The Opportunity

In this role, you will execute system-level assessments of customer installations across North America using standardized assessment tools to evaluate asset condition, system performance, operational risk, and system-level interactions. You will conduct on-site inspections and structured data collection, develop risk-based recommendations, prepare technical reports, and present findings to customer stakeholders. Your work will help identify lifecycle service opportunities including maintenance strategies, retrofits, life extension initiatives, service-level agreements, and performance improvements. By providing condition transparency and actionable recommendations, you will support informed asset management activities and contribute to the reliability, performance, and modernization of power system infrastructure.


How You'll Make an Impact

  • Identify target customers and sites through installed-base screening and lifecycle opportunity reviews.

  • Define assessment scope, system boundaries, and required technical inputs.

  • Configure assessment tools and complete pre-assessment preparation activities.

  • Conduct on-site inspections and structured data collection across customer assets and systems.

  • Evaluate asset condition, system performance, operational risk, and system-level interactions.

  • Prepare technical reports, validate conclusions, and identify failure modes, risks, and improvement opportunities.

  • Develop recommendations that connect corrective actions with lifecycle service opportunities.

  • Present findings and recommended actions to customer stakeholders.

  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.


Your Background

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent field experience (10+ years).

  • Experience with HV substation equipment, service engineering, field service, asset management, reliability, maintenance, or lifecycle services.

  • Experience conducting technical assessments, inspections, audits, site reviews, or reliability studies in customer-facing environments.

  • Experience assessing asset condition, system interactions, operational risk, and lifecycle implications.

  • Comfortable using digital assessment tools, structured data collection methods, risk-based reporting, and technical documentation.

  • Understanding of maintenance strategies and service-level agreements, life extension, and performance improvement activities.
