What are remote arts jobs?

Remote arts jobs are positions in the creative field that can be performed from any location, often from home, using digital tools and communication platforms. These jobs include roles such as graphic designer, illustrator, art director, animator, and art educator, among others. Remote arts professionals collaborate with clients and teams virtually to produce visual content, teach art classes, or manage creative projects without needing to be physically present in a studio or office. This flexibility allows artists to work with clients globally and maintain a better work-life balance.

What are some common challenges faced by remote arts professionals, and how can they be overcome?

Remote arts professionals often face challenges such as maintaining creative collaboration, managing time zones, and accessing resources or feedback. Overcoming these obstacles usually involves using digital tools for virtual meetings and file sharing, setting clear communication guidelines, and scheduling regular check-ins with collaborators. Building a strong online network and creating a dedicated workspace can also help foster creativity and productivity while working remotely.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote arts professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Arts Professional, you need a solid background in art theory, visual design, and portfolio development, often supported by a degree in fine arts or a related field. Proficiency with digital art tools like Adobe Creative Suite, graphic tablets, and collaboration platforms is typically required. Creativity, self-motivation, and effective communication skills help you stand out when working independently and collaborating remotely. These skills and qualities ensure you can produce high-quality work, meet client expectations, and maintain productivity outside a traditional studio environment.

Job description

Information about Shattered Studios:
Shattered Studios is a nonprofit organization that shares hope and faith with young people through gaming, media, and the arts. Shattered creates engaging resources (comic books, podcasts, video content, games, etc.) that share faith principles, provides opportunities for young people to explore creativity and faith, and partners with other organizations that have a similar vision for outreach.
Shattered was created in response to a devastating increase in young people dealing with mental health issues, and that remains a major focus. Additionally, we minister to artists, creatives, and those who enjoy "Geek Culture" (video games, board games, etc.) as they often feel disconnected or misunderstood by the Church. Most recently, we have expanded our work with TCKs (Third Culture Kids). These are youth who spend a significant amount of their formative years in a culture different than their passport country and/or their parents' culture (such as children of military and missionary families). TCKs often have unique challenges and mental health issues they may encounter, but also great advantages that can be developed.
Organization: Shattered Studios
Status: Part-time or Full-time (Status of this role may expand to full-time based on interests, qualifications, and availability of the applicant. Open positions with Shattered may also be combined into a full-time position.)
Special Note:This is a support-based position that requires maintaining a personal ministry support team.
Location: Remote work is acceptable. Living near Orlando, Florida, is a plus, but not required.
Description:
This coordinator should have a love for Christian discipleship in innovative ways. They will help Shattered Studios use digital strategies and innovative methods to repackage Shattered's resources and knowledge base for use by partnering organizations. This includes developing leadership guides and discipleship materials based on Shattered Studios' original content and resources (including our Christian comic book series, upcoming Christian storytelling game, and future video content).
This position will work closely with the Executive Director of Shattered Studios to help develop strategies, coordinate, and participate in outreach to board gamers, video gamers, and tabletop role-players, both in person and online. They will also help mobilize, teach, and equip young people to reach out to their peers through gaming and digital platforms.
