Job description

Vontier is seeking a hands-on Digital Innovation and Artificial Intelligence Leader to help build and lead the execution of Vontier's digital innovation and AI strategy across the organization.  This leader will be responsible for working across business units and cross-functionally to develop and deploy AI and industrial software solutions that drive productivity, automation, and sustainability across our connected mobility ecosystem.

Reporting to the Chief Innovation and Growth Officer, you will define and execute a rapid, measurable AI roadmap, manage a pipeline of ideas, move pilots to production in distributed manufacturing and field environments, and build an AI Center of Excellence that partners with product, operations, IT/OT and commercial teams to deliver clear business outcomes in line with the Vontier Business System. You will lead a team of innovators and a virtual team of experts across the company to partner with Vontier's strategic business units to deliver AI solutions and digital innovation to the market while partnering across functional teams to leverage AI to transform Vontier's operations.  

This remote first role requires a pragmatic leader who can bridge hardware, controls, software and systems, influence without direct authority, and scale solutions globally.  This leader is an outside in innovator who is simultaneously connected to a technology ecosystem to stay ahead of the technology curve while actively working with the commercial teams to understand how to solve our customers' biggest problems with this technology.  This role will act as the subject matter expert for digital innovation and AI across the company and will help define and communicate Vontier's vision and strategy in this space.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant senior leadership experience and a proven track record of developing and deploying AI/ML solutions into production in a Software / Hardware environment (industrial software preferred)
  • Experience building, leading or scaling an Innovation Group / Center of Excellence, including governance, playbooks, reusable architectures, vendor selection, and partner ecosystems, with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive adoption without direct authority.
  • Experience defining and building a scalable innovation process that can be implemented across the organization and enhance the existing business operating system - harvesting ideas from the market, our customers and the organization, managing the idea pipeline and delivering menaingful outcomes to the organization.
  • Strong program delivery skills: roadmap development, cross-functional governance, vendor management, budget ownership, and the ability to execute fast, iterative pilots that transition to production at scale.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, change management, and influencing skills with a collaborative, visionary leadership style and strong sense of urgency.
  • Direct experience with AI/ML model development & productization, MLOps, data engineering, model validation, monitoring, and lifecycle management with measurable business outcomes.
  • Technical familiarity with cloud and edge architectures and integration of AI with OT/IT systems (PLC/SCADA, sensors, industrial protocols).
  • Demonstrated implementations that integrate software with hardware/controls and deliver measurable business outcomes (e.g., uptime, yield, cost savings).
  • Practical understanding of security, compliance, and data governance for industrial and customer systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, data science, or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to sites as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with customer-facing platforms and payment processing integrated with operational systems.
  • Experience scaling solutions across multi-site, multi-country deployments.
  • Familiarity with technology & vendor ecosystems for industrial AI (edge vendors, industrial IoT, model deployment tools).
  • Demonstrated history of building reusable playbooks, architecture patterns, and acceleration assets for rapid deployment.
  • Experience communicating innovation and AI strategies with board members, externally and with customers.
    The base compensation range for this position is $175,000 to $230,000 per annum. Your actual base salary will be determined based upon numerous factors which may include relevant experience, skills, location (labor market data), credentials (education, certifications), and internal equity.
