Your impact:

  • Serve as Project Manager for highway and roadway design-build projects, from pursuit through final delivery
  • Lead multidisciplinary design teams and coordinate closely with construction partners in a design-build environment
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality in accordance with Lochner’s project management procedures
  • Act as the primary point of contact with NCDOT, FHWA, contractors, and subconsultants
  • Ensure compliance with NCDOT standards, manuals, DB contracts, DB guidelines, and federal regulations
  • Oversee design development, technical reviews, constructability reviews, and value engineering efforts
  • Support design-build pursuits, including technical approach development, staffing plans, schedules, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Mentor and develop engineering staff while fostering a collaborative team environment
  • Promote Lochner’s culture of safety, quality, and integrity on all projects
 

Who you are: 

  • Active North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license (required)
  • 10+ years of transportation engineering experience
  • Demonstrated project management experience on highway design-build projects
  • Strong working knowledge of NCDOT policies, procedures, and design criteria
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with contractors in alternative delivery environments
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and client-relationship skills
  • Willingness to travel within North Carolina as project needs require
 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as Project Manager or Deputy Project Manager on NCDOT design-build projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience supporting or leading design-build pursuits and proposals
  • Familiarity with alternative delivery methods (CM/GC, P3)
  • PMP certification
  • Experience on large-scale roadway, interchange, or corridor projects

Work Environment
