Duties
Help

• Performs work involved in maintaining, testing, and repairing all equipment in a hydroelectric powerplant and pumping stations.
• Overhauls, repairs, evaluates, and performance tests turbines, generators, motors, air compressors, pumps, pressure regulators, eductors, valves, pipes, penstocks, intakes, spillways, diversion dam, and wasteway gates including appurtenant mechanical controls.
• Operates the powerplant Domestic Water Treatment Facility to include operation, testing of domestic drinking water, and obtaining grab samples for testing.
• Monitors lab sensitive equipment and calibration of the equipment as well as the repair of mechanical controls, dismantling, reconstructing and fabricating parts as needed for the daily operation of the facility.
• Operates heavy equipment to include mobile cranes, backhoes, boom trucks, dump trucks, tractors, and forklifts.
• Performs welding tasks using gas welding equipment or electric welding equipment.
• Operates overhead, mobile, gantry and jib cranes and performs rigging incidental to lifting, moving, dismantling, assembling, overhauling, and/or repairing hydroelectric powerplant and pumping plant machinery and related equipment.
• Uses technical drawings, specifications, and records to fill out required forms such as job hazard analysis, work plants, and special permits.
• Plans work sequences, selecting tools, and materials needed to complete assignments.

Qualifications
Your application materials must demonstrate sufficient experience and training to perform the duties of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum qualifications for trades and labor positions are determined by evaluation of job elements. You must meet at least 2 points on the screen-out element(s) and obtain an average of at least 2 points on all of the job elements in order to be considered qualified for this position. Your responses to the assessment questions MUST be reflected in your resume or your application will be marked as not qualified. HR will not make assumptions in determining qualifications.
This position requires a fully skilled Plant Mechanic or Machinist with skill in at least two of the following trades: Welder, Pipefitter/Plumber, Millwright, Crane Operator/Rigger. If your resume does not clearly reflect this experience, your application will be marked as ineligible.

Condition of Employment For Probationary Period: As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you may be required to serve a 1 year probationary period during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated. This probationary period is an extension of the appointment process and therefore requires the agency to determine if continued employment would advance the public interest, meet the organization goals and mission of the agency, and/or otherwise promote the efficiency of the service. In determining if your employment advances the public interest, the agency will consider:
