What are some common challenges faced by Remote Ansys FEA Engineers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Ansys FEA Engineers often encounter challenges such as effective communication with cross-functional teams, managing large simulation files over limited bandwidth, and maintaining version control of models and results. To address these, it’s essential to establish clear communication protocols, use collaborative cloud-based platforms for file sharing, and adopt robust project management tools. Regular virtual meetings and well-documented workflows also help ensure alignment and minimize errors in collaborative projects.

What is the difference between Remote Ansys Fea vs Remote Mechanical Engineer?

AspectRemote Ansys FeaRemote Mechanical Engineer
Required CredentialsEngineering degree, FEA software proficiency, certifications in AnsysEngineering degree, CAD and analysis software skills, relevant certifications
Work EnvironmentPrimarily software analysis, simulation tasks, remote collaborationDesign, analysis, testing, often involving remote or onsite work
Industry UsageEngineering firms, product development, aerospace, automotiveManufacturing, product design, aerospace, automotive

Remote Ansys Fea specialists focus on finite element analysis using Ansys software, primarily performing simulations and stress analysis remotely. Remote Mechanical Engineers have a broader role, including design, testing, and analysis across various engineering projects. Both roles require engineering credentials, but Ansys Fea roles are more specialized in simulation software, while Mechanical Engineers may work with multiple tools and tasks.

What is a Remote Ansys FEA Engineer?

A Remote Ansys FEA Engineer is a professional who specializes in using Ansys software to perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) from a remote location. This role involves simulating and analyzing the structural, thermal, or fluid dynamics behavior of products or systems to predict their performance under various conditions. Remote Ansys FEA Engineers collaborate with teams online, interpret simulation results, and provide design recommendations to improve product reliability and efficiency. They typically have backgrounds in mechanical engineering or related fields and strong proficiency in Ansys software.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Ansys FEA Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Ansys FEA Engineer, you need a solid background in mechanical or structural engineering, strong analytical skills, and experience with finite element analysis (FEA) methods, often backed by a relevant engineering degree. Proficiency in Ansys software, CAD tools, and familiarity with industry standards or certifications like PE (Professional Engineer) are typically required. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and self-management skills distinguish top performers in remote roles. These skills and qualities are crucial for delivering accurate simulations, meeting project deadlines, and collaborating effectively within distributed engineering teams.

Job description

Full Time | Eligible for Hybrid, Remote

Solutions Engineers are the technical backbone of every Luminary AI opportunity. You\'ll partner with Account Executives to lead pre-sales engagements from first discovery call through pilot. We\'re hiring SEs grounded in a specific physics discipline — structural mechanics and FEA, in this role — who bring that depth to Physics AI use cases across our customer base. The role is technically heavy: most of your week will be in demos, validation studies, and surrogate model evaluation, with the rest spent on the commercial motion — qualification, scoping, proposals, and executive storytelling.

What you\'ll do in this Role:

  • Run discovery and qualification on new opportunities, translating customer pain into scoped Physics AI use cases
  • Build demos, benchmarks, and validation studies using Luminary generated data or customer data
  • Contribute to applied R&D in AI/ML for structural mechanics — evaluating new architectures, prototyping surrogate workflows, and stress-testing model performance on real customer geometries and load cases
  • Own the technical narrative in customer meetings — from engineer-level deep dives to VP/CTO storytelling
  • Collaborate with internal product and engineering teams to translate customer needs into Luminary platform enhancements
  • Present at customer sites and industry conferences to demonstrate Physics AI capabilities

What we\'re looking for:

A self-starter engineer with the ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder technical evaluations. Primarily:

  • PhD in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil Engineering, or related, 2-5 years of post-PhD experience in structural simulation, technical sales, or applied research
  • Hands-on FEA expertise — stress analysis, fatigue, vibration/NVH, composites, or nonlinear statics — with fluency in commercial solvers (Abaqus, ANSYS Mechanical, Nastran, or similar)
  • Experience with explicit dynamics for crash, impact, or drop-test simulation
  • Working knowledge of Physics AI and ML surrogates (neural operators, GNNs, transformers for PDEs)
  • Python proficiency for scripting, automation, and API/SDK workflows
  • Strong commercial instincts — you can read a room, qualify fast, and tell a clean technical story to a non-technical buyer
  • Willingness to travel (~25%) to customer sites across North America

Ways to Stand Out:

  • Background working with aerospace, automotive, defense, or industrial manufacturing customers
  • Experience with open-source FEA (CalculiX) or topology optimization workflows
  • Experience with PyTorch and frameworks like PhysicsNeMo, Modulus, or equivalent
  • Experience with HPC environments and cloud computing platforms

Eligibility: This role is limited to U.S. Persons. Candidates must be based in the United States and satisfy all listed requirements. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
