This role offers the opportunity to build and support mission-critical healthcare technology solutions that improve clinical and operational outcomes.
You will work on enterprise healthcare information systems, developing reliable applications and integrations for hospital environments.
The position focuses on InterSystems technologies, including TrakCare HIS, Cache, MUMPS, and Cache ObjectScript development.
You will collaborate with technical teams, healthcare professionals, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions.
The role combines software engineering, system integration, troubleshooting, and deployment support across complex healthcare workflows.
This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer passionate about healthcare technology, interoperability, and impactful digital transformation.

Accountabilities:

The Software Engineer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting healthcare information systems while ensuring performance, reliability, and seamless integration across platforms. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, customizing, and maintaining healthcare applications built on the InterSystems TrakCare HIS platform using Cache/MUMPS and Cache ObjectScript.
  • Designing Cache classes, business logic layers, data access components, and reusable software modules to improve maintainability and scalability.
  • Configuring, integrating, and troubleshooting interfaces through the Ensemble integration engine to enable secure and reliable data exchange between clinical and administrative systems.
  • Designing and integrating RESTful APIs, including healthcare, insurance, and payment-related third-party integrations.
  • Building and optimizing SQL-based reports, data extraction processes, reconciliation scripts, and operational reporting solutions.
  • Automating recurring reports and scheduled activities using Cache ObjectScript and the MUMPS Task Manager.
  • Improving system performance by optimizing SQL queries, Cache/MUMPS routines, and stored procedures.
  • Performing code reviews, debugging, and defect resolution to maintain high-quality software delivery.
  • Investigating integration issues, data inconsistencies, and interface failures to improve system reliability and data accuracy.
  • Supporting testing activities, deployments, go-lives, and post-implementation stabilization across multiple healthcare units.
  • Collaborating with clinical and administrative stakeholders to understand requirements and translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
  • Contributing to technical discussions, knowledge sharing, and mentoring of junior team members.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience developing healthcare software solutions, strong knowledge of InterSystems technologies, and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Required qualifications include:

  • 2+ years of experience in healthcare IT, healthcare software development, or health information systems support.
  • Strong hands-on experience with InterSystems Cache, Cache ObjectScript, and MUMPS development.
  • Proven experience working with the InterSystems TrakCare HIS platform.
  • Strong SQL skills for data extraction, reporting, validation, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with the Ensemble integration engine for interface configuration and healthcare system integrations.
  • Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and third-party healthcare interfaces.
  • Experience automating reports and scheduled processes using Cache ObjectScript and MUMPS Task Manager.
  • Working knowledge of Core Java and software engineering principles.
  • Experience with debugging, code reviews, and resolving defects throughout software release cycles.
  • Familiarity with hospital workflows such as Billing, Registration, EMR, Laboratory, MIS reporting, and revenue-cycle operations.
  • Experience supporting deployments, go-lives, and production environments across multiple healthcare units.
  • Ability to work effectively in Agile/Scrum environments and distributed delivery teams.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, ownership, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with HL7 v2.x message types (ADT, ORM, ORU, SIU, MDM), routing, transformation, and Ensemble integrations.
  • Exposure to InterSystems HealthShare and healthcare interoperability solutions.
  • Experience with TrakCare reporting tools, CSP (Cache Server Pages), and LogiReport.
  • Knowledge of Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), billing, claims, and credit-control workflows.
  • Exposure to healthcare platforms such as Midas (Symplr).
  • Experience integrating healthcare systems with solutions such as ABHA, ClaimBook, and insurance/payer APIs.
Benefits:
