Summary of the role:

We are seeking a full-time SolarCorps Commercial Project Development Fellow to support our Commercial Project Development team. The fellow will split their training between solar design basics and utility analysis in order to learn how commercial solar project proposals are developed. Fellows with this experience will go on to be project coordinators, solar analysts, and solar developers, or pursue related careers in the renewable energy industry. 

  • Perform preliminary solar design in HelioScope
  • Procure and analyze energy usage data for the site
  • Model energy bill savings in Energy Toolbase using solar production data and energy usage data
  • Assist in processing solar incentive paperwork and managing application processes
  • Develop solar-related educational materials for affordable housing owners
  • Help organize and maintain project information in Salesforce
  • Scheduling and preparing for site visits, inspections, and service calls

Requirements

What you need to bring to this role...  

  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and decision-making skills
  • Experience with paperwork and forms, data entry, spreadsheets, or similar data organization 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Interest in a career in solar or renewable energy
  • Ability to work remotely
  • Passion for environmental justice, sustainability, affordable housing, the environment, or just generally grounded in making the world a better place. 
  • To be eligible for AmeriCorps, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, national, or legal permanent resident alien of the United States.

It would be great if you also had...

  • Experience with remote work or learning remotely
  • Experience with basic statistical analysis and reporting
  • Experience with Excel

Benefits and how we take care of you 


Standard Fellowship Compensation: 

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hourly pay of $21.40 per hour, plus the benefits listed above. Fellows who complete 1700 hours with GRID and complete their contracted term of service will be eligible for a $3,000 cash end of term award


Standard Fellowship Benefits: 

Medical, Dental, Vision/Eye Care insurance, Accrued paid time off (PTO),13 paid holidays, Commuter Checks, 403b Retirement Plan, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Health Savings Account (HSA), STD, LTD, and AD&D insurance


AmeriCorps Fellowship Compensation: 

This is a full-time position with a stipend pay of $40,800 over 11 months (Approx $21.40.hr). Members who complete 1700 hours of service with GRID and complete their contracted term of service will be eligible for the Segal Americorps Education Award of $10,000 upon successful completion of fellowship

AmeriCorps Fellowship Benefits: 

10 days of personal time off and 13 holidays observed by GRID, Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), STD, LTD, and AD&D insurance, Childcare Assistance if Eligible 


Where you will sit & the places you may go... 

The ideal candidate will sit within commuting distance from a regional office. This position may require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects such as org-wide celebrations, team building exercises, etc. Availability to work nights and weekends may very rarely be required. GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver's license and have a good driving record.
