Remote Aircraft Planning Engineer information

What is a remote aircraft planning engineer?

A Remote Aircraft Planning Engineer is a professional who designs, coordinates, and manages aircraft maintenance schedules, modifications, and compliance from a remote location, rather than being physically present at an airport or maintenance facility. They use specialized software and digital communication tools to analyze data, ensure regulatory compliance, and optimize aircraft operations. This role requires strong knowledge of aviation regulations, technical engineering skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with on-site teams. Remote Aircraft Planning Engineers play a crucial role in maintaining aircraft safety and operational efficiency while benefiting from the flexibility of remote work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote aircraft planning engineer?

To thrive as a Remote Aircraft Planning Engineer, you need a solid background in aeronautical engineering, aircraft maintenance planning, and regulatory compliance, often supported by a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with technical tools such as Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) software, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), and certification like EASA Part 66 or FAA licenses is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective remote communication are crucial soft skills for coordinating with global teams and ensuring precise planning. These skills ensure the safety, efficiency, and compliance of aircraft maintenance operations in a distributed work environment.

How does a remote aircraft planning engineer typically collaborate with on-site teams to ensure effective maintenance scheduling and compliance?

As a Remote Aircraft Planning Engineer, you will frequently coordinate with on-site maintenance crews, operations managers, and other engineering staff using digital communication tools and specialized software. Effective collaboration is key to aligning maintenance schedules, tracking regulatory compliance, and addressing any unforeseen technical issues. You may participate in regular virtual meetings, provide detailed planning documents, and use real-time data to support decision-making. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to remote workflows while maintaining close coordination with geographically dispersed teams.

  • Build government customer relationships in support of the mission.

Build, Fabrication, and Integration:

  • Manually build and assemble Group 1, Group 2, and Group 3 fixed-wing and multirotor Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) from engineering drawings, wiring schematics, bills of material, and written work instructions.
  • Troubleshoot, inspect, and repair aircraft following hard landings and mishaps, including root-cause inspection of structures, wiring, connectors, and flight logs.
  • Provide government customer support and assist in monitoring the fabrication, maintenance, servicing, and repair of UAS.
