Remote Ai Prompt Engineer Trainee information

What is a Remote AI Prompt Engineer Trainee?

A Remote AI Prompt Engineer Trainee is an entry-level professional who works remotely to learn how to design, test, and optimize prompts for artificial intelligence models, such as large language models. Their main responsibility is to develop effective queries or instructions that guide AI models to produce accurate and relevant outputs. Trainees often work under the supervision of experienced prompt engineers and participate in hands-on training, gaining practical experience with AI tools and prompt engineering best practices. This role is ideal for individuals interested in AI, natural language processing, and technology-driven problem solving.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote AI Prompt Engineer Trainee?

To thrive as a Remote AI Prompt Engineer Trainee, you need a strong foundation in language proficiency, analytical thinking, and a basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, often complemented by coursework or certifications in computer science or related fields. Familiarity with AI platforms, prompt engineering tools, and collaborative systems like GitHub or Slack is typically expected. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective communication are standout soft skills for this position. These skills and qualities are vital for designing precise prompts, troubleshooting outputs, and collaborating efficiently in remote, cross-functional teams.

What are the typical challenges faced by a Remote AI Prompt Engineer Trainee when collaborating with cross-functional teams?

As a Remote AI Prompt Engineer Trainee, one common challenge is effectively communicating technical concepts and prompt design strategies with team members from non-technical backgrounds, such as product managers or UX designers. Since work is remote, navigating time zones and ensuring clear documentation can also be difficult. However, regular virtual meetings, proactive updates, and using collaborative tools help bridge these gaps, allowing trainees to contribute meaningfully to AI model development and refinement.

Job description

Position Overview

This role is designed for an AI-fluent individual contributor who helps shape how Elite identifies, evaluates, and applies AI across both enterprise functions and product. The position partners closely with leaders and delivery teams to guide ideation around AI and agentic automation use cases, helping teams move from opportunity framing to practical implementation paths.

The position combines hands-on technical depth with strong strategic judgment. It drives the exploration, experimentation, and rapid prototyping of emerging AI technologies, tools, and implementation patterns, while influencing the company's broader AI direction through practical insight and demonstrated results. Rather than owning large-scale delivery directly, this role accelerates learning, informs decision-making, and helps establish scalable approaches that teams can adopt across the organization.

Work Arrangement: Remote

This role requires the individual to be based in Flexible across U.S. time zonestime zone.

Responsibilities

  • Guide business, product, and technology teams through ideation for AI and agentic automation opportunities, helping frame use cases, value hypotheses, feasibility, and implementation approaches
  • Drive exploration of emerging AI technologies, tools, and patterns to assess their applicability across enterprise and product scenarios
  • Lead experimentation and rapid prototyping to validate new ideas, reduce uncertainty, and accelerate learning before broader investment or delivery
  • Develop proof-of-concepts and reference implementations that demonstrate practical approaches for AI-enabled workflows, copilots, and agentic automation
  • Influence enterprise and product AI strategy by surfacing insights from experimentation, identifying patterns, and recommending high-value opportunities and technology directions
  • Partner with product, engineering, architecture, and business stakeholders to translate promising ideas into scalable implementation plans and adoption paths
  • Help define practical standards, reusable patterns, and guardrails for responsible AI and agentic solution design
  • Act as a trusted internal advisor on AI trends, tradeoffs, and emerging capabilities, bringing a pragmatic perspective grounded in hands-on experience
  • Build organizational confidence and fluency in AI by helping teams understand what is possible, what is practical, and how to move forward effectively
  • Reduce fragmentation by standardizing AI tools and approaches across teams while enabling innovation where it drives value
  • Contribute thought leadership that strengthens Elite's long-term AI vision while balancing innovation, practicality, security, and business value
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and company objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience
  • 9+ years strong experience in AI/ML, software engineering, data platforms, solution architecture, or related technical roles, with demonstrated hands-on work in modern AI technologies
  • Hands-on experience with Generative AI, including large language models, prompt engineering, retrieval patterns, orchestration frameworks, and AI-enabled workflow automation
  • Demonstrated ability to explore new technologies quickly, build prototypes, and turn ambiguous ideas into practical recommendations and next steps
  • Experience guiding cross-functional teams through technical discovery, use case shaping, experimentation, and early implementation planning
  • Strong understanding of emerging AI patterns such as copilots, multi-step orchestration, agentic workflows, evaluation approaches, and human-in-the-loop design
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and strategy through clear communication, credible technical judgment, and practical insight
  • Experience balancing innovation with responsible AI considerations, including data governance, security, compliance, and operational practicality
  • Ability to travel up 10-25% as business needs require
  • Role requires the following physical capacity: Sedentary: primarily desk/computer work
  • Must be legally authorized to work in United States; Elite does not provide employment sponsorship for this position

Benefits:
