What is a remote agile?

A Remote Agile job involves working in an Agile environment while being physically remote from the rest of the team. Agile is a project management methodology that emphasizes collaboration, adaptability, and iterative progress. Remote Agile roles require strong communication, coordination, and the use of digital tools to facilitate teamwork. These jobs can include positions such as Scrum Master, Agile Coach, Product Owner, or Agile Developer. Teams rely on virtual meetings, project management software, and asynchronous communication to maintain Agile practices effectively.

How does a remote agile professional typically collaborate with team members across different locations?

Remote Agile professionals work closely with teammates using a combination of synchronous meetings (like daily stand-ups or sprint planning) and asynchronous communication tools such as Slack or email. They often rely on shared project management platforms to track progress, assign tasks, and maintain transparency. Clear documentation and regular updates are essential to keep everyone aligned despite time zone differences. This setup allows for effective collaboration and maintains agile principles even when the team is geographically dispersed.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the remote agile position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Agile professional, you need a solid understanding of Agile frameworks (such as Scrum or Kanban), experience with distributed team environments, and often a background in software development or project management. Familiarity with tools like Jira, Trello, or Azure DevOps, along with Agile certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Master) is commonly required. Excellent communication, self-motivation, and adaptability are standout soft skills for collaborating across time zones and cultures. These skills ensure seamless workflow, effective team coordination, and successful project delivery in fully remote Agile settings.

$125K - $155K/yr

Full-time

Medical, Dental, Vision, Retirement, PTO

Job description

Release Manager

A fast-growing mortgage lender in Southern California is looking for an exceptional Release Manager to build and own its release management function from the ground up. This is not a coordination role. You will design the operating model, establish governance and standards, implement reporting and KPIs, and drive accountability across engineering teams in a fast-moving, AI-first environment. If you have done this before and can prove it, we want to talk.

Compensation and Work Environment

  • Salary: $125,000 to $155,000 annually, depending on experience
  • Location: Santa Ana, CA (hybrid) or fully remote
  • Full-time, exempt

What You Will Do

  • Design and build the release management function from planning through production deployment across multiple engineering pods.
  • Establish release standards, governance frameworks, and change management processes in an Agile environment.
  • Define and implement meaningful KPIs and reporting that give leadership real visibility into release health, risk, and predictability.
  • Identify, track, and manage risks and dependencies across teams to protect release timelines and production stability.
  • Drive accountability across engineering, product, and operations without direct authority over those teams.
  • Build rollback, recovery, and escalation processes for failed or partial releases in a regulated, money-moving environment.
  • Partner with engineering leads and product owners to integrate release gates into CI/CD pipelines and sprint cycles.

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven track record of building or significantly maturing a release management function, not maintaining one someone else built.
  • Experience owning the full release lifecycle end to end, from planning through production, including post-release monitoring.
  • Strong background in governance, risk management, and dependency tracking across multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • Hands-on experience with release and project tooling such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or GitHub Actions.
  • Ability to establish process and drive cross-functional accountability in an environment that lacks formal structure today.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present release status, risk, and metrics clearly to senior leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in mortgage technology, financial services, or another regulated fintech environment.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline integration and automated release gating.
  • Background working alongside Agile development teams and understanding of sprint-based delivery cycles.

Benefits include medical, dental, vision, retirement, and PTO. Comprehensive benefits package available; see link for details.
