What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Advertising Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Advertising Designer, you need strong graphic design skills, creativity, and proficiency in visual communication, usually backed by a degree in design or a related field. Mastery of design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and familiarity with digital ad platforms are essential. Excellent time management, communication, and collaboration skills help you work effectively with clients and remote teams. These skills ensure the creation of compelling, on-brand advertisements that drive engagement and meet marketing goals from any location.

Remote Advertising Designers focus on creating visuals specifically for advertising campaigns, often working closely with marketing teams. Remote Graphic Designers have a broader scope, designing for various purposes across industries. Both roles require strong design skills and familiarity with design software, but Advertising Designers typically need marketing knowledge to craft effective ad visuals.

What are remote advertising designers?

Remote advertising designers are creative professionals who develop visual concepts and advertising materials for businesses, but work from locations outside of a traditional office setting. They use digital tools to design ads for online, print, or multimedia platforms, collaborating with clients and teams through virtual communication. This role requires strong graphic design skills, creativity, and the ability to meet deadlines independently. Remote advertising designers often work as freelancers or as part of distributed marketing teams, delivering high-quality visual content to help brands reach their target audiences.

How does a Remote Advertising Designer effectively collaborate with marketing teams and clients despite working from different locations?

Remote Advertising Designers typically use digital tools like project management platforms, video conferencing, and shared cloud storage to stay connected with marketing teams and clients. Clear communication is crucial, so regular check-ins and feedback sessions are scheduled to ensure project goals are aligned. Designers are often involved in brainstorming sessions, concept presentations, and revisions, making responsiveness and adaptability key strengths. By leveraging collaborative software and maintaining open lines of communication, remote designers can deliver creative solutions that meet client expectations while working independently.

About Us
We believe every brand, and person, should be a work in progress.

It’s why the founding partners opened the agency in 2016, and why WorkInProgress helps brands boldly take action, innovate, and create to prove why they exist. Then we use those actions to create the most memorable advertising.

As an independent agency, we strive to prove that an agency can care as much about a client’s business as they do. And that advertising can play a fundamental role in building and growing a company.

We’re always looking for smart, creative, and passionate people that care more about changing a company than winning awards.

Inventors more than ad people. Problem solvers more than portfolio puffery pushers. No assholes. No egos. No hiding because you can’t do the job. No selfishness. No disrespecting people or their time. Insanely talented, yet incredibly humble. In other words, one in a million. Lucky for us, we want to stay small and independent.

Our office is located in Boulder, CO, and we require employees to work from the office Tuesdays and Thursdays.

We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
