ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY — ASSISTED REPRODUCTION & FAMILY LAW
Klein Fertility Law (KFL) | Full-Time | Remote (Texas-based preferred)
ABOUT THE ROLE
Klein Fertility Law is a boutique fertility and surrogacy law firm seeking a Texas-licensed attorney to handle assisted reproductive technology (ART) and family law matters for intended parents, gestational carriers, and donors. You'll draft and negotiate gestational surrogacy agreements, egg/sperm/embryo donation contracts, and pre-birth and post-birth orders, working directly with a collaborative team that values precision, warmth, and client care.
This is a substantive practice role for someone who wants depth in a focused, growing field, not a high-volume litigation mill.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Draft, review, and negotiate gestational carrier agreements, donor agreements, and related ART contracts
- Prepare and file parentage actions, pre-birth orders, and post-birth orders under Texas Family Code Chapter 160 (Uniform Parentage Act) and Chapter 162
- Counsel intended parents, surrogates, and donors through the legal process with clarity and empathy
- Coordinate with fertility clinics, agencies, escrow providers, and opposing counsel
- Conduct legal research on evolving ART and parentage law across jurisdictions
- Support document automation and template refinement (HotDocs experience a plus, training available)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Active license to practice law in Texas and good standing with the State Bar of Texas (non-negotiable)
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to manage a caseload independently while collaborating with a small team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
We welcome applications from attorneys at all experience levels. That said, our ideal candidate brings:
- 2-5 years of practice as an attorney
- Some of that experience in family law, assisted reproduction, surrogacy, adoption, or a closely related area
- Direct experience with gestational surrogacy or third-party reproduction matters
- Familiarity with Texas parentage and assisted-reproduction statutes
- Experience working with LGBTQ+ intended parents and a genuine commitment to inclusive, affirming client service
- Comfort with remote, technology-forward legal workflows
LOCATION & WORK ARRANGEMENT
Texas-based candidates are strongly preferred. The essential requirement is an active Texas bar license. Attorneys who reside outside Texas but have practiced extensively within the state will be considered. This is a remote position.
WHY KFL
You'll do meaningful work helping people build families, in a focused practice area with room to grow, alongside a team that takes the work seriously without taking itself too seriously.
