Position Specific Summary
The Role
Earn money while making a meaningful impact on college access! As a College Admissions Workshop Tutor, you'll lead virtual, structured workshops (with flexible scheduling based on your availability!) for up to 15 high school students (usually fewer). We offer comprehensive, paid training and easy-to-follow workshop plans and materials to give you all the support you need to succeed in the role. You'll develop valuable leadership and teaching skills while providing crucial support many students couldn't otherwise access. More details below!
Our Workshops
You'll choose which of our options you want to teach (options vary by month - we already have curriculum for you to use):
  • Creating Your College List: 4 weeks, eight 75-minute sessions
    • Guide students in building balanced college lists
    • Help students understand what they're looking for in a college
  • The Essay: 4 weeks, eight 75-minute sessions
    • Support students in brainstorming and drafting personal statements and supplemental essays
  • The Application: 2 weeks, four 60-minute sessions
    • Guide students through key application components
  • Financial Aid: 2 weeks, four 60-minute sessions
    • Level up your understanding of college costs and gain a clearer picture of the financial aid process
  • Getting Started on Your Essay: 1 time, 75-minutes
    • Help students brainstorm topics to write about for their college essays

  • Light Load (2-4 hours/week): Run one workshop at a time
  • Medium Load (5-6 hours/week): Run 2 workshops simultaneously (e.g., two Essay workshops)

Standard Position Description
  • The student in this position will be tasked with supporting high school students through the college application process and leading structured workshops on college applications, essays, and college list-building for groups of up to 15 students. This role advances educational equity by providing free college admissions support to students who may not otherwise have access to comprehensive college counseling.
  • Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental needs.
