Job Description

Seeking a Remote Fractional Controller who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and loves solving financial puzzles for entrepreneurs. You'll be responsible for full-cycle bookkeeping across multiple client accounts and should be just as comfortable reconciling a messy balance sheet as you are coaching a client through
best practices. You'll need to be system-savvy, detail-obsessed, and unafraid of ambiguity.

Responsibilities:

  • Own day-to-day accounting in QuickBooks Online (QBO) across multiple client entities.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable via Bill.com, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and collections monitoring.
  • Administer payroll through Gusto and QuickBooks Online Payroll.
  • Reconcile inventory, investigate discrepancies, and ensure accurate COGS.
  • Record journal entries and maintain clean, audit-ready general ledgers.
  • Own the month-end close processes and support timely client reporting.
  • Handle sales tax filings and ongoing compliance.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests and adjust entries based on tools like Toast or other POS integrations.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and accountability.
  • Think critically when issues arise and propose system/process improvements where needed.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Online (non-negotiable)
  • Experience with Bill.com and Gusto (preferred)
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think on your feet and work through messy data
  • Comfort managing multiple client accounts simultaneously
