Familiarity with telehealth platforms, electronic health records (EHRs), and secure communication tools is essential for delivering remote support. Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, active listening, and the ability to build trust remotely are crucial soft skills. These capabilities ensure effective client engagement, confidentiality, and positive outcomes in virtual addiction recovery settings.

A remote addiction counselor is a licensed professional who provides support, guidance, and treatment for individuals struggling with substance use disorders or addictive behaviors, all through virtual means such as video calls, phone calls, or online messaging. These counselors help clients develop coping strategies, set recovery goals, and access resources from the comfort and privacy of their own homes. Remote addiction counseling offers flexibility and accessibility, making it easier for people to seek help regardless of their location or circumstances.

  • Deliver therapeutic interventions tailored to each client's stage of change, dependence, and recovery journey
  • Assess individual and family systems to identify strengths, challenges, and opportunities for growth
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary clinical teams, case management, families, and referral sources to ensure coordinated, comprehensive care
  • Maintain accurate, compliant documentation in our electronic medical record (EMR) system, including progress notes, clinical updates, and incident reports

  • Demonstrated knowledge of addiction, trauma, and mental health theories, including principles of recovery, developmental trauma, substance effects, and evidence-based treatment modalities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build therapeutic rapport and work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • High moral and ethical standards; commitment to NAADAC (or equivalent) ethical guidelines
  • Successful completion of background check, drug screening, criminal record clearance, and credential verification
Preferred Qualifications
