Building a client base, obtaining relevant certifications, and leveraging online platforms can help increase income, but reaching this level often involves a combination of experience, marketing, and time commitment.

Both work remotely in the addiction industry but differ in credential requirements and scope of practice.

What are some common challenges faced in a remote addiction recovery support role that doesn't require a degree?

In a remote addiction recovery support role that doesn't require a degree, you may encounter challenges such as building trust with clients virtually, maintaining professional boundaries while offering empathetic support, and managing your own emotional well-being. Working remotely can also mean less immediate access to team support, so it's important to proactively communicate with supervisors and colleagues. Staying organized, participating in regular virtual team meetings, and seeking ongoing training can help you navigate these challenges and provide high-quality support to those in recovery.

What is a Remote Addiction Recovery job with no degree required?

A Remote Addiction Recovery job with no degree required involves supporting individuals struggling with substance use disorders through online platforms, such as phone calls, chat, or video conferencing. These roles may include positions like peer recovery specialist, support coach, or hotline responder. Typically, these jobs focus on providing emotional support, sharing resources, and helping clients navigate their recovery journeys, rather than offering clinical therapy. While formal degrees aren't necessary, relevant lived experience, certifications, or training in addiction recovery are often preferred by employers.

What kind of remote work can you do as a CADC?

A Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) can work remotely in roles such as telehealth counseling, case management, and client support, often providing virtual addiction counseling and recovery planning. These positions typically require strong communication skills, confidentiality, and sometimes specific licensing or certification requirements for telehealth practice.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Addiction Recovery Specialist without a degree, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Addiction Recovery Specialist without a degree, you typically need strong knowledge of addiction recovery principles, motivational interviewing, and relevant work or lived experience in recovery support. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, secure communication tools, and documentation systems is often required. Exceptional listening, empathy, and nonjudgmental communication skills help build trust and rapport with clients. These skills and qualities are vital for providing effective, accessible support and guidance to individuals in recovery, especially in a virtual setting.

What jobs pay 4000 a week without a degree?

Remote addiction recovery roles typically do not pay $4,000 weekly without specialized certifications or extensive experience. High-paying remote jobs that can reach this level often include sales, software development, or consulting roles, which may require skills, training, or industry knowledge rather than formal degrees.

How to become a certified addiction counselor without a degree?

To become a certified addiction counselor without a degree, you can pursue state-specific certification programs that often require completing a certain number of supervised clinical hours and training courses in addiction counseling. Some certifications, such as Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), may have alternative pathways or require relevant work experience and passing a certification exam. It is important to check your state's licensing requirements as they vary widely.

Job description

Recovery Specialist — You Are Accountable

Full-Time | Remote In Washington | $45,000 + Bonus

You've been where our members are. That's your superpower.

At You Are Accountable, we believe the most powerful force in recovery is connection — with someone who truly gets it. We're building an affordable peer support, testing, and technology platform that helps individuals, families, and providers create lasting change. Our members are transitioning out of treatment and into the rest of their lives, and they need someone in their corner.

That someone is you.

What you'll do

As an Accountable Recovery Specialist, you'll carry your own caseload of members and walk alongside them through one of the most important seasons of their lives. Day to day, that looks like:

  • Offering peer support via text and video — being a real, human presence when it matters most
  • Monitoring toxicology and breathalyzer tests over video (no lab required — you'll be trained)
  • Collaborating with each member's clinical team to keep everyone aligned
  • Building and tracking personalized relapse prevention plans
  • Checking in weekly and reviewing progress surveys to catch issues early
  • Representing Accountable's mission in every interaction

This is a full time-remote role — you set the tone, and we give you the tools.

Who thrives here

You don't need a perfect résumé. You need lived experience, heart, and a drive to help others find what you've found.

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Are in recovery yourself, with at least 3 years of continuous sobriety, and you're open about it
  • Hold a Peer Recovery Support Specialist credential in the state of Washington.
  • Have worked as a case manager, counselor, sponsor, or in any capacity walking people through hard seasons (a big plus, not a requirement)
  • Are comfortable with apps, video calls, and learning new tech — we'll teach you the rest
  • Communicate clearly, listen well, and know how to prioritize when multiple people need you
  • Are excited about being part of a startup that's growing fast and doing meaningful work

What we offer

Compensation & Benefits

  • $45,000 base salary with bonus opportunity
  • Health benefits
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid time off

The work itself

  • 100% remote in the state of Washington.
  • Full time role
  • A team of people who are sober, mission-driven, and genuinely good to work with
  • The chance to be an early leader at a high-growth company reshaping how addiction recovery is supported

Our commitment to you

You Are Accountable is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds — race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran status, disability status, age, and more. We're proud to be LGBTQ+ friendly, minority-inclusive, and age-inclusive. Recovery looks different for everyone. So does our team.
