We're partnering with a rapidly growing Southern California-based family office seeking a Tax Manager to oversee tax and financial operations across a sophisticated portfolio of operating companies, investments, and high-net-worth interests.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an early to mid-career tax professional who want to get out of a CPA firm! Someone who wants broad exposure, significant autonomy, and the chance to grow alongside an entrepreneurial organization. You'll work directly with ownership, helping manage a portfolio of approximately $100M–$200M in assets, while serving as a trusted tax and financial advisor across multiple entities.
What You'll Do
- Lead tax functions across multiple entities (10+)- returns in 30+ states
- Prepare and review federal and state business and individual tax returns
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate financial reporting
- Manage banking relationships, financing activities, and lender communications
- Support investment analysis and financial decision-making
- Partner directly with ownership on strategic financial initiatives
- Improve processes, implement efficiencies, and leverage technology where possible
- Serve as the internal accounting and tax expert for the organization
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in tax - ideally working with UHNW individuals
- Active CPA license (California preferred, open to other states)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- Experience preparing business and individual tax returns
- Strong full-cycle accounting and bookkeeping background
- Experience supporting multiple entities, holding companies, or complex ownership structures
- Public accounting experience combined with private industry experience is highly desirable
- Knowledge of banking relationships, lending, investments, and financial reporting
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Self-motivated, resourceful, organized, and comfortable working independently
- Someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
