What does a remote accounting manager do?

As a remote accounting manager, you work from home to manage the accounting department, complete accounting duties, review financial accounts, and create financial statements. Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Accounting Manager based in Netherlands.

This role sits within an international Finance function and owns full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of five entities across multiple jurisdictions.
You'll oversee month-end close, general ledger integrity, intercompany reconciliations, statutory reporting, tax compliance, and financial analysis.
The position combines hands-on accounting ownership with coordination of external auditors, tax advisors, banking partners, and compliance stakeholders.
You'll work across corporate ERP systems and QuickBooks while monitoring automated transaction feeds and resolving discrepancies before they impact the books.
The role also contributes to forecasting and plan-versus-actual analysis, giving leadership greater visibility into financial performance.
Because the position spans the US, Hong Kong, Cyprus, and other international environments, strong organization and independent ownership are essential.
This is a fully remote opportunity for an experienced international accountant who enjoys complex, multi-entity operations and a high level of responsibility.

Accountabilities
  • Own full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of five international entities across the US, Hong Kong, Cyprus, and other applicable jurisdictions, ensuring accurate and timely financial records.
  • Manage month-end close activities, including general ledger and trial balance reviews, account reconciliations, and intercompany accounting.
  • Maintain parallel accounting across the corporate ERP and QuickBooks, monitoring automated transaction feeds and identifying duplicates, mismatches, or other anomalies before they affect the books.
  • Monitor and validate automated data ingestion through bank feeds, API integrations, and other connected financial systems.
  • Lead annual statutory audits for the Cyprus and Hong Kong entities from preparation through completion, coordinating directly with external auditors and ensuring requested documentation is delivered accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate outsourced partners responsible for US tax filings and local statutory returns, maintaining visibility into deadlines, requirements, and deliverables.
  • Own and maintain the group tax calendar, ensuring corporate income tax, VAT, and other applicable local returns are prepared, filed, and paid on time.
  • Prepare and update monthly and quarterly P&L forecasts, including plan-versus-actual variance analysis and investigation of significant deviations.
  • Support KYC, AML, and other financial compliance requests from banks, payment service providers, acquirers, and other external partners.
  • Identify accounting discrepancies, control weaknesses, and process inefficiencies, taking corrective action or escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate accounting documentation and support continuous improvement of financial processes across multiple entities and jurisdictions.
  • Work independently with international auditors, tax advisors, banking compliance teams, and service providers while keeping internal stakeholders informed of progress and risks.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience as a Senior Accountant, International Accountant, General Ledger Accountant, or in a comparable accounting position within a multi-entity international organization.
  • Strong practical knowledge of accounting under IFRS and/or US GAAP.
  • Hands-on experience with statutory reporting, external audits, and local tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience with international entities or exposure to jurisdictions such as the US, Cyprus, or Hong Kong is highly desirable, while experience with other international markets is also relevant.
  • Experience managing accounting in an ERP alongside QuickBooks or Xero, with a practical understanding of automated financial data ingestion, including bank feeds and API integrations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets and/or Excel, including complex reconciliations, financial analysis, anomaly detection, and large-scale data handling.
  • Practical experience with P&L forecasting, budgeting or financial planning, and plan-versus-actual variance analysis.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify inconsistencies before they become larger financial issues.
  • Upper-Intermediate English proficiency (B2+) in both written and spoken communication, with the ability to work confidently with international auditors, banking compliance officers, tax advisors, and service providers.
  • High level of autonomy and ownership, including the ability to drive audits, tax activities, reconciliations, and compliance processes through completion without requiring constant follow-up.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, combined with a proactive approach to solving accounting and operational challenges.
  • Big Four or mid-tier audit experience is considered a plus but is not required, and experience within a specific industry is not essential.
Benefits
  • Fully remote, full-time opportunity from Poland.
  • 28 calendar days of vacation per year.
  • 7 wellness days annually, providing additional paid time off for personal matters, recovery, or household needs.
  • Bonuses of up to $5,000 for successful employee referrals.
  • Full payment for professional training, international conferences, and relevant professional meetings.
  • Corporate discounts for English-language lessons.
  • Health support of up to $1,000 gross per year per employee for eligible employees who are not covered by corporate medical insurance, applicable toward self-purchased health insurance or eligible medical expenses for the employee and close relatives.
  • Workplace organization support, including necessary equipment and an equipped workplace at company offices or coworking locations. In other locations, reimbursement of eligible home-office or coworking expenses of up to $1,000 gross once every three years.
  • Internal gamified recognition and rewards system, allowing employees to exchange colleague recognition bonuses for time off, merchandise, team activities, massage certificates, and other rewards.
  • International and remote-first working environment with colleagues across multiple countries and opportunities for cross-border collaboration.
  • The initial compensation level or salary range will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process and before employment begins.
