What is a remote accountant?

A remote accountant is a financial professional who performs accounting tasks such as bookkeeping, preparing financial statements, handling payroll, and managing taxes while working from a location outside of a traditional office. By providing both exceptional, patient-centered care and the proprietary, AI-driven technology powering it, Local Infusion accelerates access, simplifies workflows, and improves outcomes for everyone in the infusion journey - from patients and clinicians to health plans, health systems, employers, and pharma.

The Role
The Senior Accountant will play a foundational role in building and scaling the accounting function during an exciting period of rapid growth. Reporting directly to the Controller, this position will help transition key accounting functions from outsourced providers to an in-house team while designing scalable processes, strengthening internal controls, and leveraging technology to improve efficiency.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced public accountant who enjoys building rather than simply maintaining accounting processes. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting knowledge with a continuous improvement mindset and is excited to help shape the future of the Finance organization.
Location: Hybrid (Nashville, TN area)
Key Accountabilities
Build & Scale the Accounting Function
  • Partner with the Controller to transition accounting responsibilities from outsourced providers to an internal accounting team.
  • Develop and implement scalable accounting processes that support a rapidly growing, multi-location healthcare organization.
  • Standardize account reconciliations, month-end close procedures, and supporting schedules across multiple legal entities.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual accounting processes and improve efficiency through technology and AI-enabled tools.

Financial Close & General Accounting
  • Own significant portions of the monthly close process.
  • Prepare and review complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses.
  • Research and apply U.S. GAAP guidance to complex accounting transactions.
  • Support intercompany accounting, allocations, and consolidation activities.
  • Assist with accounting for acquisitions, new center openings, and other strategic growth initiatives.

Specialized Accounting Areas
  • Own the monthly accounting for lease activity, including new leases, modifications, terminations, amortization, and related reconciliations in accordance with ASC 842.
  • Prepare and review revenue and accounts receivable accounting, including reconciliations, reserve analyses, and month-end reporting in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Prepare payroll accounting entries and reconciliations, including wages, payroll taxes, employee benefits, bonus accruals, and other compensation-related accounts.
  • Analyze complex accounting transactions and prepare supporting schedules to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Research technical accounting matters and prepare accounting memorandums to support significant accounting conclusions when needed.
  • Assist with accounting for acquisitions, new center openings, and other strategic growth initiatives.

Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Collaborate with Finance, Accounts Payable, Operations, Revenue Cycle, and Human Resources.
  • Support system enhancements, implementations, and finance transformation initiatives.
  • Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as the company continues to grow.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA required
  • 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Previous experience with a Big 4 or nationally recognized Top 10 public accounting firm.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge under U.S. GAAP.
  • Experience with ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition) and ASC 842 (Leases).
  • Experience managing complex month-end close responsibilities.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Systems Experience
  • Experience with Sage Intacct a plus
  • Experience using AI tools to improve productivity, automate routine tasks, analyze data, or enhance accounting workflows.
  • Strong Excel skills with ability to work with large data sets

The Local Infusion Way
Local Infusion is a respectful upbeat team united by our mission of shaping the way specialty infusion care is delivered.
