Writing Center Specialist
Westcliff University seeks a dedicated and dynamic Writing Center Specialist to join our fully online Writing Center
team. The ideal candidate will provide academic writing support to students at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral
levels. Writing Center Specialists act as both tutors and guides, offering asynchronous and synchronous feedback to
help students develop their writing skills and achieve self-sufficiency. This fully remote role offers flexible hours and
requires expertise in the writing process, grammar, academic research strategies, formal academic English, and APA
7th edition formatting.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Student Support: Provide personalized guidance to students on a wide range of writing assignments, including essays, research papers, and dissertations.
  • Skill Development: Foster students' writing skills by offering constructive and actionable feedback to improve clarity, structure, and academic rigor.
  • Resource Sharing: Recommend appropriate resources to address individual student needs and enhance their academic writing.
  • Collaboration: Maintain regular communication with the Writing Center leadership to align with best practices and improve student outcomes.
  • Timely Delivery: Ensure feedback is delivered promptly, meeting established deadlines and service standards.
  • Flexible Availability: Adjust availability to meet Writing Center needs on a part-time schedule.
  • Content Creation: Contribute to the development of Writing Center resources, including instructional guides, templates, and FAQs.
  • Handles other projects and tasks as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in academic writing, including grammar, structure, APA formatting, and research methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise, and constructive feedback.
  • Proven organizational and multitasking abilities to manage multiple student submissions and deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, remote environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively with students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word (Track Changes), Google Workspace, and familiarity with online learning platforms.
