The team at Hey Jane is looking to expand our team by adding a detail oriented, human-centered, tech-savvy Patient Care Advocate with a background in medication abortion who can provide excellent customer service on a full-time basis.

This is a hybrid role with required in-clinic hours at our Oakland clinic. Initially, this team member will work 30 per week on-site and 10 hours remote. Expected start date in early August.

Schedule: 09:00am-07:00pm PT (10 hr shifts)

Workdays: Wednesday-Saturday (Wednesday-Friday in office, Saturday remote)

Compensation: $60,000-$62,000 annually, salaried with benefits (plus on-site and weekend differential pay)

Responsibilities
  • Answering patient questions related to treatment, logistics, and next steps
  • Troubleshooting patient concerns related to shipping, refunds, scheduling, and care coordination
  • Tracking patients through their care journey and ensuring timely follow-up
  • Checking, documenting, and reporting insurance eligibility information
  • Maintaining accurate documentation within the EMR while adhering to HIPAA and privacy standards
  • Balancing multiple priorities while staying grounded, communicative, and reliable to both patients and teammates
  • This role requires a high level of accuracy and follow-through. Small details directly impact patient care. We value team members who take pride in getting things right, asking clarifying questions, and closing loops.


Qualifications
  • Healthcare background (MA, PCA, CNA, or similar clinical or patient-facing role)  with 1+ years of experience in abortion care
  • Comfort working across both in-clinic and remote environments
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong triage skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in real time
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear, empathetic guidance to patients in moments of stress or uncertainty
  • Skilled at using online tools and technology to deliver care and communicate with patients
  • Comfort in supporting patients with sensitive health issues, such as abortion and birth control
  •  Ability to navigate protocols, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies related to patient care and documentation
  • Experience providing trauma-informed care, demonstrated through the ability to slow down, adjust tone, and meet patients with steadiness and respect during moments of crisis
  • Eager to engage in constant process improvement to help refine tools and operations for improved care delivery
  • Strong ability to prioritize competing tasks, manage time thoughtfully, and communicate proactively with teammates about progress, changes, and follow-through
