Reports To: Head of Engineering / Infrastructure/Cloud

Salary Range: $150K-$200K

Role Overview

Contour Data Solutions is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support and evolve Contour Cloud, our private and hybrid cloud platform, and to work closely with the Cinch Software development team on cloud orchestration and platform automation.

This role sits at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, software development, network engineering, and storage platforms, with a heavy emphasis on Linux-based systems, virtualization, automation, and observability. The ideal candidate is hands-on, infrastructure-first, and comfortable bridging development and operations in a production cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud & Platform Engineering

  • Design, deploy, and maintain Linux-based cloud infrastructure supporting ContourCloud workloads
  • Build and automate cloud deployments, platform services, and infrastructure workflows through scripting and code
  • Support and enhance virtualization platforms, with a primary focus on Xen/XCP-ng; VMware, NSX and vSphere experience
  • Build, deploy, and maintain physical and virtual server platforms

Cinch Software Integration

  • Work daily with Cinch Software to:
    • Enable cloud orchestration and automation
    • Ensure reliable cloud deployments and management workflows
    • Improve integration between software-driven automation and infrastructure reali

DevOps & Automation

  • Collaborate closely with the Cinch Software development team to support:
    • Cloud orchestration
    • Platform integration
    • Deployment automation
    • Infrastructure-as-Code–style workflows
  • Develop and maintain automation using scripting and programming languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Go, etc.)
  • Improve deployment consistency, reliability, and repeatability across environments

Networking & IP Management

  • Work directly with the Network Engineering team on:
    • IP address management (IPAM)
    • Network provisioning and lifecycle
    • Cloud and data center network integration
  • Leverage NetBox for IPAM, DCIM, and infrastructure modeling

Monitoring, Observability & Operations

  • Implement and maintain monitoring and observability platforms including:
    • Zabbix for infrastructure monitoring
    • Grafana for visualization and dashboards
  • Assist in capacity planning, performance tuning, and fault analysis
  • Participate in platform reliability and operational readiness initiatives

Storage & Systems

  • Design, build, and maintain server and storage platforms, including:
    • ZFS-based storage architectures
    • TrueNAS (Core or SCALE) platforms
  • Support data integrity, performance, and scalability requirements across cloud and customer environments

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong Linux systems administration experience (required)
  • Proven experience with:
    • Scripting and automation
    • Infrastructure or platform engineering in production environments
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Xen virtualization
    • XCP-ng (preferred)
    • VMware NSX & vSphere
  • Experience working with:
    • NetBox (IPAM / DCIM)
