Product Development Intern - T&I LATAM (Summer 2026)

About the Role

Dura-Line (an Orbia business) is seeking a Product Development Intern to support our Technology & Innovation (T&I) LATAM team. This is an 8-week, full-time summer internship designed for a rising Mechanical Engineering student interested in product design, prototyping, and infrastructure solutions. Intern will focus on specific, well-scoped deliverables under close supervision and assignment is designed as learning-oriented tasks that contribute to real projects.

You will gain hands-on exposure to real product development projects while collaborating with a global engineering team across LATAM and Europe.

What You'll Do

You will contribute to two active product development initiatives:

1. Hydrolock T - Product Visuals & Documentation

  • Create photo-realistic product renders for technical and commercial use
  • Document prototype testing protocols and results
  • Support seal design requirements for RFQs and supplier development

2. PPH Ecuador - Threadable Fittings

  • Assist during design stages, focusing on product and process constraints
  • Support development of robust, manufacturable solutions

3. Cross-Project Deliverables

  • Consolidate technical documentation packages
  • Present final outputs and recommendations to the project team

What You'll Gain

  • Currently pursuing a Mechanical Engineering or related degree (Rising Sophomore preferred)
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (SOLIDWORKS, Fusion360, AutoCAD, or Onshape)
  • Experience with 3D printing (Bambu Lab, Bambu Studio, Prusa), Laser Cutting,  rapid prototyping/ Photo-realistic 3D renders
  • Strong communication skills
  • Working knowledge of programming tools (Python, Micro Python, MATLAB)
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship or academic project in product development/design
  • Experience creating photo-realistic renders
  • Exposure to prototype testing or tolerance analysis
  • Interest in infrastructure, water management, or building solutions
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes (injection molding, extrusion)
  • Spanish language skills (a plus)
