Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable, mechanically skilled Heavy Equipment Driver/Operator to support on-site transportation, maintenance, and equipment operation services at a federal government facility in the Bethesda, MD area. This role is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and operating a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment, including trucks, tractors, trailers, forklifts, generators, and personnel lifts, in a safe and professional manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment in support of facility and technical operations
- Perform routine and unplanned inspections, maintenance, and repairs on assigned vehicles and heavy equipment
- Conduct Operator Daily Checks (ODC) prior to equipment use and document all findings and deficiencies
- Operate a range of equipment including forklifts, tractor-trailers, trucks, trailers, personnel/man lifts, and weight-handling equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as tire replacement, oil and filter changes, lubrication, brake work, and hydraulic/air line repairs
- Provide transportation of equipment and supplies both on-site and to other locations as needed
- Coordinate daily work assignments and scheduling with the government Technical Point of Contact (TPOC)
- Support inspection and acceptance of work in accordance with contract terms and conditions
- Support delivery of Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) items applicable to the role
- Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, and repair records/reports
- Maintain compliance with all safety, security, and site-access requirements at the government facility
- Comply with site hours of operation and holiday schedule (Monday-Friday, standard government hours; no work on federal holidays without written authorization)
- Support occasional overtime work to accomplish maintenance, repair, and transportation needs
- Maintain a clean, professional appearance and represent the company in a manner consistent with site safety and conduct standards
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Security Clearance: Minimum Secret clearance required
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A or equivalent as required by state law for the equipment operated.
- Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance required
- Ability to pass a background investigation and obtain a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential for access to a Department of Defense facility
- Ability to life up to 75 lbs, crawl, walk and kneel as needed.
- Relevant certification and/or experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator and/or Heavy Equipment Mechanic
- Ability to work on-site full-time at NSWCCD Bethesda, MD
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience operating heavy equipment, forklifts, or personnel lifts
- Prior tractor-trailer driving experience
- Prior experience on federal or DoD service contracts
- Experience documenting maintenance activity in ticketing system or maintenance log
