Remote 2D Animation Rigging information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote 2D Animation Rigger, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote 2D Animation Rigger, you need a strong grasp of animation principles, character rigging techniques, and proficiency in 2D animation software, often supported by a relevant degree or portfolio. Familiarity with tools such as Toon Boom Harmony, Adobe After Effects, and rigging plugins is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective collaboration skills help set candidates apart in remote environments. These competencies are crucial for creating flexible, high-quality rigs that streamline the animation process and ensure seamless team workflows.

What are some common challenges faced by remote 2D animation rigging artists, and how can they be addressed?

Remote 2D animation rigging artists often encounter challenges related to communication and collaboration, since they work apart from the rest of the production team. Clear documentation, regular video meetings, and the use of collaborative platforms like Slack or ShotGrid can help bridge gaps and ensure everyone is aligned on rigging requirements and feedback. Additionally, managing different software versions and ensuring compatibility across team members' setups is crucial; version control tools and standardized workflows can mitigate technical issues. Staying organized and responsive to feedback also helps maintain productivity and the quality of rigged assets.

What is remote 2D animation rigging?

Remote 2D animation rigging is the process of creating digital skeletons or control structures for 2D characters and objects, allowing them to move realistically in animations. This work is done remotely, meaning riggers collaborate with animation teams from different locations using specialized software. Rigging is essential for animators, as it provides the underlying framework that makes character movements smooth and expressive. Remote rigging roles often require strong technical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in animation software such as Toon Boom Harmony or Adobe After Effects.

Job description

Credit Acceptance is proud to be an award-winning company with local and national workplace recognition in multiple categories! Our world-class culture is shaped by dedicated Team Members who share a drive to succeed as professionals and together as a company. A great product, amazing people and our stable financial history have made us one of the largest used car finance companies nationally.
Our Support teams work with multiple departments in a dynamic environment that promotes flexibility and autonomy, while offering the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of professionals. We work to comply with our company standards, exceed customer expectations and drive our Great Place to Work culture. Through the consistent delivery of quality services and understanding the needs of our business, we develop innovative improvements as we strive towards our company's Big, Hairy, Audacious Goals!

The Video & AI Content Creator is a versatile, high-output creative who produces compelling motion-focused content for organic social, paid social, and performance marketing formats from platform-native short-form video and iterative creative variants to polished brand storytelling assets. This role sits at the intersection of traditional video craft, social-first storytelling, and AI-assisted production. The ideal candidate brings strong editorial instincts, a native understanding of social platforms, and a genuine passion for how emerging AI tools can accelerate and elevate creative work.

Outcomes and Activities:

Working alongside Art Directors, Copywriters and Social Media Managers, you'll

  • Concept and develop creative built for engagement, retention, and performance: short-form video content for Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms - with a strong instinct for hooks, pacing, and what earns the scroll-stop
  • Concept and create longer-form storytelling content, as needed
  • Generate AI-driven imagery and video using tools such as Adobe Firefly, Freepik, Google Flow, and Higgsfield, producing original visuals and stylized assets that integrate seamlessly with live-action footage
  • Develop and document repeatable AI-assisted production workflows that increase content volume, reduce turnaround time, and support multivariate creative testing across message, format, and channel
  • Evaluate new AI tools as they emerge - piloting what's worth adopting and helping establish team best practices around responsible, brand-safe AI use
  • Stay ahead of social platform trends, algorithm shifts, and format evolutions - quickly adapting creative approaches to what's working now
  • Maintain organized project files, asset libraries, and version control to support efficient team workflows and asset reuse

Knowledge and Skills:

  • A background in long-form or broadcast video production, including end-to-end post-production, color grading, sound design, and delivery across formats, that informs strong storytelling instincts and the ability to jump in on higher-production work when needed
  • Hands-on fluency with AI image and video generation tools; able to produce work where AI plays a meaningful, intentional creative role, not just a novelty
  • Understanding of where AI accelerates production and where human craft remains irreplaceable - and the judgment to know the difference
  • Deep, intuitive grasp of what performs on social platforms - not just theoretically, but from consistent hands-on experience creating and publishing content
  • Comfort working across both long-lead traditional production cycles and fast-turn social publishing cadences simultaneously
  • Clear communicator who can articulate creative decisions to both creative and non-creative stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Film, Media Production, Communications, or equivalent professional experience
  • 3-5 years of professional video editing and content creation experience spanning social-native and traditional advertising formats
  • Portfolio demonstrating range across all three content types: social-first video, traditional brand or advertising work, and AI-assisted production
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Premiere Pro and After Effects, as well as social-first editing tools like CapCut
  • Hands-on experience with multiple AI image or video generation platforms

Preferred:

  • Mix of in-house, agency and/or production company experience
  • Experience in financial services or other regulated industries
  • Experience supporting both B2B and B2C audiences
  • Motion design or 2D animation skills beyond standard templates

Compensation: $73,000 - $86,000 base salary + an annual bonus plan

This position is not currently open to individuals who require sponsorship now or in the future to work legally for Credit Acceptance, such as H-1b / H-4 or F-1 OPT visa holders.
