We recognize that there are certain core competencies that every CRNA is able to demonstrate as a result of his/her education and training. They include the following:
  • Administer & monitor general anesthesia or monitored sedation.
  • Proficient in airway management including mechanical ventilation.
  • Placement of peripheral intravenous catheters.
  • Pre-anesthesia evaluation.
  • Post anesthesia care/discharge.
  • Evaluate laboratory & diagnostic studies.
  • Proficient in pain management.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development principles, from neonate to geriatrics.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, neonate through geriatrics.
  • Relocation assistance available

Qualifications
Education:
• Completed AANA approved course in Anesthesia. Masters degree required.
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse in State of Illinois.
• Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist or new graduate who is eligible for certification.
• Healthcare Provider BLS and ACLS certification required.
• NRP certification required before completing their orientation period.
Credentialing:
• Maintains current Registered Nursing license and Advanced Practice Nursing license in Illinois (Requires 50 CEUs in 2 years).
• Maintains current CRNA certification. (Requires 40 CEUs in 2 years).
• Completes CRNA competency validation.
• Participates in FPPE/OPPE validation as required.
• Completes all process paperwork for credentialing re-appointment
• Completes annual self-evaluation and submits documentation for annual performance appraisal.
