What does a relocation assistance plant manager do?

A Relocation Assistance Plant Manager oversees the process of moving manufacturing operations, equipment, and personnel from one location to another. They coordinate logistics, manage timelines, and ensure minimal disruption to production during the transition. Their responsibilities often include collaborating with various departments, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and managing budgets related to the relocation project. Effective communication and organizational skills are crucial for this role, as they must ensure the move is completed efficiently and on schedule.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a relocation assistance plant manager?

To thrive as a Relocation Assistance Plant Manager, you need strong leadership, project management experience, and a background in operations or facility management, often supported by a relevant bachelor’s degree. Familiarity with logistics software, supply chain management systems, and possibly certifications like PMP or Six Sigma is highly beneficial. Outstanding communication, adaptability, and problem-solving skills help manage teams and coordinate complex moves effectively. These competencies ensure seamless plant relocations, minimize downtime, and maintain operational efficiency during transitions.

As a Plant Manager overseeing relocation assistance, you'll encounter unique challenges such as coordinating logistics for moving equipment and staff, minimizing production downtime, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards during the transition. Effective communication with cross-functional teams—including HR, operations, and external vendors—is crucial to navigate these complexities. Additionally, you may need to develop contingency plans to address unexpected delays and ensure a smooth transition for both the plant operations and relocating employees.

  • Prior experience in a Plant Production Manager, Operations Manager, Assistant Plant Manager, or Plant Manager role within food manufacturing.
  • Experience leading other people managers across multiple operational departments.
  • Experience supporting plant financial performance, labor planning, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • A willingness to relocate to another Leprino manufacturing facility, as this role is designed to prepare future Plant Managers across our manufacturing network.
We Hope You Also Have (Preferred Qualifications):
  • A master's degree in Engineering, Food Science, Dairy Technology, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Experience within dairy, cheese, or other high‑volume food manufacturing environments.
  • Experience leading operations in a multi‑line, 24/7 manufacturing facility.
  • Experience supporting capital projects, operational excellence initiatives, or plant expansions.
  • Experience using SAP or similar ERP systems.

Offering You In Return:

A chance to be part of a global team of individuals passionate about producing and delivering high‑quality products that help feed and nourish families around the world.
