BCBA professionals relocating for a new role often face challenges such as adjusting to new organizational cultures, understanding state-specific licensure requirements, and building rapport with new clients and teams. ABOUT VERBAL BEGINNINGS

Verbal Beginnings is a growing, BCBA-owned and operated, BHCOE-accredited and ACQ-accredited ABA therapy provider dedicated to unlocking the potential of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. With the belief that every child can learn, we promote independence and improve the quality of life for the children and families we serve through individualized, evidence-based treatment. We offer a full continuum of programs — including Early Intervention, In-Home, Social Skills, Feeding, Diagnostic, and our Comprehensive Services program incorporating Speech and OT — and we prioritize, support, and fund the professional development of every clinician on our team.

WHY BCBAS SHOULD JOIN US

At Verbal Beginnings, you can do the work you trained to do — without the friction that burns you out everywhere else. We were founded in 2011 by two clinicians who believed the people delivering care deserve as much investment as the kids receiving it. Fifteen years later, that's not a slogan — it's built into how we're structured.

  • We remove the barriers. Dedicated schedulers, billing specialists, and intake staff mean you stay in your area of expertise — clinical work, not paperwork. You focus on your clients; we handle the rest.

  • We invest in your growth. A network of 100+ BCBAs alongside Speech and Occupational Therapists, with access to mentorship, case collaboration, and special interest groups — plus a defined, tiered career ladder with the competencies for each level spelled out, so you always know what "next" looks like and exactly how to get there.

  • We reward ambition. Our compensation is transparent and performance-based, with total earnings up to $116K — supported by the infrastructure to help you get there without burning out.

  • We're built to last. Seven centers across Maryland and Virginia, and services provided in five states, and still growing — established enough to be stable, growing fast enough that there's real room to rise.

  • More ways than one to earn. Leverage our BCBA referral program to earn as much as $5,000 per hired referral or take advantage of our BACB supervision program for aspiring BCBA trainees to earn as much as $8,000 annually.

At Verbal Beginnings, you'll find a place where a clinician who cares about outcomes, growth, and craft can build something lasting — not just fill a caseload.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

As a field-based BCBA at Verbal Beginnings, you will bring clinical care directly into the environments that matter most to each child — their home, school, and community. This is where real generalization happens, where skills transfer into everyday life, and where families witness the impact of high-quality ABA firsthand. Your work will be grounded in the most current, evidence-based research, and guided by a relentless commitment to quality outcomes for every child on your caseload. Collaboration is essential to this role: you will work hand in hand with a dedicated team of RBTs, fellow BCBAs, and clinical supervisors — sharing observations, refining treatment approaches, and holding each other to the highest standards of care. You will also serve as an educator and partner to the families you work with, equipping caregivers with the knowledge and strategies to support their child's progress across every setting and every moment of the day. As part of a BHCOE-accredited training site, you will mentor and inspire the next generation of behavior analysts — contributing to a field-wide culture of excellence that reaches far beyond the children currently in your care.

WHAT YOUR DAY LOOKS LIKE

  • Travel to clients' homes, schools, and community settings to conduct comprehensive skills and behavior assessments — deeply understanding each child's needs, strengths, and goals within their natural environment.

  • Develop and continuously refine individualized treatment plans using innovative, evidence-based interventions tailored to each child's unique learning profile and the contexts in which they live.

  • Train, supervise, and support your team of RBTs in the field — fostering collaboration, clinical consistency, and a shared commitment to quality across every session.

  • Partner with families through hands-on education and coaching, empowering caregivers to carry treatment strategies into daily routines and become confident advocates for their child's development.

  • Collaborate with supervisors and the quality assurance team to review outcomes, share knowledge across cases, and continuously raise the standard of care delivered to every child you serve.
