Job description

WHO WE ARE
Relm is the only specialty insurer dedicated to supporting the world's most innovative industries.
Whether it's with startups harnessing zero-gravity conditions on the ISS to manufacture blindness-curing retinas, global crypto exchanges democratizing crypto trading, or biotech pioneers using gene-editing technology to advance personalized medicine, Relm works lockstep with innovators to understand and underwrite businesses shaping the future.
Relm's team operates out of offices in London, New York, Dubai, Miami, Bermuda, executing market-leading insurance solutions for companies operating in digital assets and web3, AI, the space economy, financial technology, biotech, and more.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Where regular insurers look backwards, Relm differentiates by looking ahead. We operate at the forefront of innovative industries by hiring curious minds with deep sector experience. To continue helping businesses build the future, we need all of our team members to demonstrate curiosity, creativity, courage, and optimism. We need them to be accountable for ideation but able to execute collaboratively. In short: we hire people whose inquisitive minds help them break ground.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Underwrite and negotiate complex Financial Lines risks across D&O, E&O (professional liability), Crime, EPL, and Fiduciary, taking full ownership of coverage structure, pricing, and terms in line with Relm's underwriting philosophy.
  • Contribute to the growth and optimization of our U.S. Financial Lines portfolio by analyzing performance, identifying trends, and supporting strategic initiatives.
  • Build and strengthen broker and client relationships, proactively identifying opportunities to expand accounts through cross-selling, increased limits, and new product offerings.
  • Anticipate emerging risks, particularly across fintech, cryptocurrency, digital assets, and decentralized platforms, using market insight to inform underwriting and product development.
  • Support and mentor junior team members, helping to foster a collaborative, high-performance culture grounded in technical excellence.
  • Partner with colleagues across claims, legal, compliance, product, and distribution to deliver a seamless underwriting approach aligned with Relm's broader strategy.
  • Promote underwriting discipline, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement, including the use of data, tools, and evolving processes.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
  • 8+ years of underwriting experience within Financial Lines.
  • Strong technical expertise in D&O and E&O, with exposure to crime, EPL, fiduciary, and cyber preferred.
  • Proven experience underwriting complex risks and managing broker relationships.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to evaluate complex underwriting data.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • Degree in business, finance, risk management, or a related field - advantageous, but not essential.
  • Professional designations such as CPCU, RPLU, or ARM - advantageous, but not essential.

WHAT WE OFFER
The annual salary for this role is structured within a range of USD $200,000 to USD $225,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Paid Public Holidays: Enjoy ten (10) paid public holidays each year, giving you the opportunity to unwind and recharge.
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO): You'll receive 28 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) annually, giving you the flexibility to take care of personal matters, vacation, or sick days.
  • Full Health Coverage: The company fully covers your medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance to ensure you and your family are well taken care of.
  • 401K Program with Company Match: Plan for your future with access to the company's 401K program, including a 5% company match.
  • Professional Development & Mentorship: We invest in your growth through professional development opportunities, training, and mentorship programs, helping you advance in your career.
  • Wellness Stipend: Take care of yourself with a monthly wellness stipend to support your health and well-being.
  • Commuting & Travel Reimbursement: We offer a commuting reimbursement to help with transportation costs, including parking, making your daily commute easier.
  • Wellness Benefits: Stay healthy and active with access to gym memberships, exercise classes, and other wellness perks that promote a balanced lifestyle.
  • Your Voice Matters: Work in an environment where your opinions and ideas are valued and play a crucial role in driving the success of our team.
  • Endless Growth Opportunities: Enjoy a multitude of career growth opportunities, ensuring that you have the resources to thrive and advance within the company.

At Relm, you won't just join a company - you'll be part of a team that's shaping the future. If you're ready to make an impact, we'd love to hear from you.
WHY YOU'LL LOVE WORKING WITH US
Diversity and inclusion are a given in this day and age; Relm goes beyond the norm to provide genuine support for our team members. We believe in equipping our staff with whatever arsenal they need to do their best work (see below), and our commitment to staff growth is often cited by members as one of their most highly valued benefits.
Relm is a team of innovators redefining what's possible in insurance. With us, you'll launch industry-first programs within an environment designed to be antithetical to traditional insurance and the restraints that come with it. Our forward-thinking attracts forward thinkers.
