Job description

Overview
Caregiver at The Peninsula Regent
Typical Day
No two days are exactly alike, but your shift will center around helping residents maintain their comfort, dignity, and independence. A typical shift is active, rewarding, and resident-focused. You'll provide hands-on personal care and medication support for residents in both Assisted Living and Independent Living, respond to call lights, assist with mobility and daily activities, and help residents enjoy meals, walks, and community activities. Depending on resident needs, you'll work with both Assisted Living and Independent Living residents, so flexibility and a willingness to adapt are important. You'll also document care, communicate with your team during shift changes, and respond to changing resident needs throughout the day. This role keeps you moving, working collaboratively, and making a meaningful difference in residents' lives every shift.
Grow Your Career
We believe in developing our team members. Every Caregiver is hired with the opportunity to grow their skills and advance within the community. Caregivers may have the opportunity to:
  • Receive training to become a Medication Technician (Med Tech), increasing both their skills and earning potential.
  • Gain experience working with both Assisted Living and Independent Living residents.
  • Expand clinical and resident care skills while working alongside an experienced Health & Wellness team.
  • Complete Relias learning modules and receive training on our documentation systems, medication processes, and community procedures.

Wages: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour DOE
Shift/Rotation:
These positions can include working weekends and holidays as part of a rotating schedule when needed.
  • Full-time PM (3:00pm - 11:30pm) - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
  • Full-time AM (7:00am - 3:30pm) - Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday
  • Part-time NOC (11:00pm-7:30am) - Friday & Saturday

Role Dynamics
You'll be part of a close-knit Health & Wellness team that works together to provide exceptional resident care. This role includes:
  • Working across both Assisted Living and Independent Living settings. Resident assignments vary depending on resident acuity and daily care needs.
  • Collaborating with caregivers, medication technicians, nurses, and other care staff to provide coordinated resident care.
  • Building meaningful relationships with residents who often know and trust their caregivers.
  • Communicating resident changes through shift reports and documentation.
  • Comfort completing online learning modules (such as Relias) and using computer-based systems for training and documentation.
  • Helping create an engaging, supportive community-not just providing care, but encouraging residents to stay active and connected.
  • Being flexible and willing to support residents wherever help is needed to ensure excellent care throughout the community.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience in Assisted Living, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, memory care, or another team-based senior care setting.
  • Experience caring for multiple residents during a shift while balancing competing priorities.
  • Experience working as part of a collaborative care team alongside caregivers, medication technicians, nurses, or other healthcare professionals.
  • Experience providing hands-on assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Comfort with documentation and electronic charting systems.

Location & Setting
The Peninsula Regent is a nonprofit senior living community in San Mateo serving adults age 60 and older. Unlike larger communities, our size allows caregivers to get to know residents personally and build lasting relationships. You'll work in a beautiful two-acre campus featuring landscaped gardens, walking paths, and inviting community spaces where residents enjoy activities, exercise classes, and social events.
Our community includes:
  • Independent Living apartments and penthouse suites.
  • A 20-room Assisted Living neighborhood with approximately 16 long-term Assisted Living residents and up to 4 short-term stay residents.

Full-Time Benefits
  • Scholarship Program
  • Discounted meals
  • Medical (90% of monthly premium paid by us), dental, vision
  • 401(k) with 4% match
  • Generous PTO (paid time off) plan
  • A great team, stable leadership, and a positive work environment
  • PayActiv (early wage access)

Bring your compassion, teamwork, and dedication to The Peninsula Regent, where you'll have the opportunity to grow your career while making a meaningful difference in residents' lives every day.
