Job description

Overview

Medication Technician with The Peninsula Regentย

Typical Day: No two days are exactly alike, but your shift will center around ensuring residents receive their medications safely while supporting their health, safety, and independence. A typical shift is fast-paced, rewarding, and resident-focused. You'll administer and document medications for residents in both Assisted Living and Independent Living, monitor residents for changes in condition, and respond to emergencies throughout the community. You'll work closely with the caregiver on duty to provide hands-on care when needed, complete accurate documentation in the EMR, and communicate resident updates during shift changes. This role combines medication management, clinical support, and compassionate resident care every day.ย

We believe in developing our team members. Medication Technicians have the opportunity to:

  • Strengthen their medication administration, documentation, and emergency response skills.
  • Gain experience supporting residents in both Assisted Living and Independent Living.
  • Continue growing their clinical knowledge while working alongside an experienced Health & Wellness team.
  • New team members complete Relias learning modules and receive training on our documentation systems, medication processes, and community procedures.

Shift/rotation: Part-Time NOC Shift (11:00 PM โ€“ 7:30 AM) with a Friday/Saturday rotation. This overnight position includes working weekends and holidays as part of a rotating schedule when needed.

Wage: $24.00+ / hr DOE (+ $1.00 NOC differential)

Role Dynamics: You'll be part of a close-knit Health & Wellness team that works together to provide exceptional resident care. This role includes:

  • Administering medications to residents in both Assisted Living and Independent Living.
  • Responding to resident emergencies and serving as the primary clinical responder during your shift.
  • Partnering with caregivers to provide hands-on resident care when additional support is needed.
  • Comfort completing online learning modules (such as Relias) and using computer-based systems for training and documentation.
  • Monitoring resident well-being and communicating changes through documentation and shift reports.
  • Collaborating with caregivers, nurses, and other care staff to ensure safe, high-quality care.

Preferred experience includes:

  • At least one year of experience in a nursing home, senior living community, or as a caregiver.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and clinical documentation.
  • Experience administering medications and maintaining accurate records.
  • Confidence remaining calm and organized while responding to resident emergencies.

Location & Setting: The Peninsula Regent is a nonprofit senior living community in San Mateo serving adults age 60 and older. Unlike larger communities, our size allows team members to get to know residents personally and build lasting relationships. You'll work on a beautiful two-acre campus featuring landscaped gardens, walking paths, and inviting community spaces where residents enjoy activities, exercise classes, and social events. Our community includes:

  • Independent Living apartments and penthouse suites.
  • A 20-room Assisted Living neighborhood with approximately 16 long-term Assisted Living residents, up to 4 short-term stay residents.

Bring your passion and creativity to The Peninsula Regent, where your career can thrive while making a difference!
