Job description

The Dunigan Family School of Nursing at the University of Evansville (UE) invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing for our Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program. This is a full-time, 12-month faculty appointment beginning in Fall 2026.
This role is designed for a versatile nursing professional who thrives in a modern, hybrid educational environment. You will lead students through an intensive, accelerated curriculum, combining online didactic instruction with high-impact, in-person laboratory and simulation experiences. If you are a reliable, independent clinician with a passion for mentoring the next generation of nurses in an innovative format, we want you on our faculty.
Primary Responsibilities
The Clinical Assistant Professor balances academic instruction with high-level clinical coordination and program service. Your main duties will include:
  • Hybrid Teaching & Coordination: Develop and deliver nursing courses in a hybrid format. You will manage all aspects of course coordination, from syllabi and lecture objectives to delivering engaging, evidence-based content online and in person.
  • Laboratory & Simulation Leadership: Facilitate hands-on learning in our state-of-the-art labs and simulation centers, evaluating student performance against rigorous program outcomes.
  • Clinical Coordination & Preceptor Oversight: Secure and maintain quality clinical placements. You will provide orientation and support to clinical preceptors and monitor student progress in various clinical settings.
  • Student Mentorship: Provide academic and professional counseling to ABSN students, supporting their progression, licensure readiness (NCLEX), and socialization into the professional nursing role.
  • Institutional Service & Assessment: Contribute to departmental policies, participate in University committees, and engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives for the ABSN program.
  • Scholarly Engagement: Maintain active involvement in research, presentations, or quality improvement initiatives to stay at the forefront of clinical and educational expertise.

Working Environment & Flexibility
This is a flexible working position that mirrors the intensity and format of an accelerated program. It requires clinical preceptorship and occasional on-call hours to support students in their clinical rotations.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: A current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana.
  • Clinical Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of professional clinical nursing experience.
  • Teaching Excellence: A demonstrated commitment to student-centered teaching and mentorship.
  • Attributes: Strong clinical expertise, independence, reliability, and a value for teamwork and collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: An earned Doctorate (PhD, DNP) or current enrollment in a doctoral program.
