Production Manager 1 - Fallon, NVPosition Overview

Our client is a leading supplier and marketer serving the road maintenance and construction industry, with multiple production facilities across the western United States. Our client is seeking an energized, flexible, self-starter to fill a full-time Production Manager position in Fallon, NV.

This is a hybrid Production/Maintenance Manager role reporting to the Plant Manager. The Production Manager is responsible for all aspects of plant operations and maintenance, including production, staffing, Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) compliance, housekeeping, equipment reliability, preventative maintenance, inventory management, quality specifications, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This role serves as a hands-on leader responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance while supporting operational goals across all facility systems and equipment.

The Production Manager works closely with operations, dispatch, vendors, and plant personnel to maintain production efficiency, minimize downtime, and support long-term asset reliability. This is a working manager role requiring both leadership and direct involvement in plant operations and maintenance activities.

This position is eligible for a potential annual bonus of up to 15%. Bonus eligibility and payout are based on individual and/or company performance.


Position ResponsibilitiesOperator 5 Duties
  • Perform all Level 4 duties.

  • Serve as the independent processing expert on all systems.

  • Act as the boiler system efficiency expert.

  • Serve as backup to the Plant Manager and other Production Manager.

  • Lead projects in any plant area.

  • Independently develop improvement opportunities.

  • Track operational metrics and savings.

  • Maintain all production processes.

  • Generate and print batch tickets.

  • Schedule employees.

  • Provide input on employee performance reviews.

  • Train and lead Operators 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Plant Operations & Leadership
  • Oversee day-to-day plant operations and maintenance activities.

  • Lead all aspects of liquid asphalt plant production and operational reliability.

  • Ensure compliance with EH&S standards, company policies, and housekeeping expectations.

  • Develop and improve plant systems and operational processes.

  • Coordinate with dispatch and operations teams to meet production schedules and customer demands.

  • Address operational issues and customer concerns.

  • Maintain accurate production, maintenance, and operational records.

  • Schedule employees and contribute to performance reviews.

  • Train, mentor, and lead Operators 1, 2, 3, and 4.

  • Monitor plant performance and allocate resources to maintain operational standards.

  • Assign and monitor plant operational and maintenance goals.

Maintenance & Reliability
  • Lead preventative and predictive maintenance programs.

  • Oversee maintenance and reliability of tanks, piping systems, pumps, railcar movers, forklifts, boilers, hot oil heaters, and related industrial equipment.

  • Plan and execute component-level rebuilds and repairs of mechanical and electrical equipment.

  • Troubleshoot operational, mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues.

  • Coordinate with vendors for repairs, technical support, and replacement parts.

  • Manage spare parts inventory and improve visibility and standardization.

  • Prioritize maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency.

  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, safety, and cost reduction.


Required Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • 5 or more years of related experience, education, or certification.

  • Previous experience managing a plant or industrial facility preferred.

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations accurately, including calculating percentages.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to:

  • Lift, carry, pull, push, or otherwise move 25-80 pounds frequently.

  • Stand, walk, and climb regularly.

  • Work on open grated catwalks up to 50 feet high.

  • Carry a 3-inch x 20-foot rubber asphalt hose approximately 120 feet without assistance.

  • Climb stairs and ladders up to 50 feet.

  • Work beneath transport trailers or railcars in crouched positions for extended periods.

  • Work in enclosed or confined spaces.

  • Balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and perform overhead work.

  • Perform occasional keyboard and repetitive hand motion tasks.

  • Work safely outdoors in varying weather conditions and around industrial and electrical equipment.

  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) daily.
