ENGineer iv - Release Train ENGINEER
Location: Colorado Springs, CO

OVERVIEW
The Release Train Engineer functions as a servant‑leader and coach for a team of Agile teams, synchronizing planning, execution, and continuous improvement across the program increment. Partnering with Product and Solution Management, the RTE safeguards lean‑agile principles, removes impediments, and fosters an environment where innovation and delivery coexist.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitate Program Increment (PI) Planning, Scrum of Scrums, ART Sync, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt events, ensuring clear goals, transparent metrics, and actionable outcomes.
  • Drive relentless improvement by monitoring flow metrics, conducting root‑cause analysis, and implementing pragmatic enhancements that accelerate value delivery without sacrificing quality.
  • Manage program risks, dependencies, and impediments, escalating strategically to maintain alignment with portfolio and enterprise objectives.
  • Champion consistent usage of digital engineering tools (Jira, Confluence, VersionOne, DOORS, Cameo) to provide data‑driven insight into schedule, scope, and capacity.
  • Coach Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and engineering leads on SAFe competencies, cultivating a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and psychological safety.
  • Collaborate with Release Management, DevSecOps, and Quality Engineering to streamline the Continuous Delivery Pipeline and maintain a reliable System Increment baseline.
  • Maintain alignment with cybersecurity compliance frameworks, embedding security and accreditation activities into each iteration.
  • Communicate program status, financial burn, and value realization to executive stakeholders through briefings and formal reviews.
  • Preforms other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum eight years of experience in systems or software delivery, including three years as a Release Train Engineer, Program Manager, or equivalent.
  • Current SAFe RTE or SAFe SPC certification.
  • Demonstrated mastery of Agile at scale, lean systems thinking, and Earned Value or similar performance management.
  • Proven ability to influence leaders and teams in highly regulated environments (DoD, aerospace, or similar).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Systems‑engineering mindset with an appreciation for legacy processes and a passion to modernize through automation and model‑based approaches.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, able to translate technical complexity into executive‑level insights.
  • Calm under pressure, with a disciplined approach to risk management and decision making.
  • Continuous‑learner ethic, actively seeking emerging practices in digital transformation, AI‑enabled test, and model‑based systems.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • Salary Range: $120,000-$140,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications)
