Job description

Position Summary

The Relationship Manager is responsible for originating a profitable portfolio of commercial and business loans, with the overall objective of increased asset quality, and to develop new business relationships while expanding individual business portfolios. The Relationship Officer will cross sell the entire bank and work with business line partners to service and expand relationships.


Essential Functions

  • Must consistently maintain a loan pipeline that would ensure that they reach their annual goals.
  • Calls on prospective or existing customers to develop new business and to expand current portfolio.
  • Performs necessary research regarding the clientโ€™s business, including analysis of financial statements. Maintains proper risk rating on assigned credits.
  • Communicates bank loan decisions to client, closes commercial loans and services clientโ€™s ongoing financial needs. Presents opportunities to appropriate loan committee based on loan.
  • Completes loan contracts by explaining provisions to applicant; obtaining signatures and notarizations; collecting fees.
  • Maintains customer confidence by keeping loan information confidential.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Assures timely loan closing and funding activities.
  • Effectively manages portfolio to ensure compliance with terms and reviews of all accounts including past due.
  • Promotes and cross-sells other banking products and services as appropriate to customer requirements.
  • Maintains consistent referral relationships with COIโ€™s.
  • Must understand and address all bank regulatory requirements.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as required by the position.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Finance, Economics or a related field, preferred.
  • Five plus yearsโ€™ experience as a Commercial Lender or similar banking role.
  • Personal computer skills โ€“ Excel, Word, industry specific software skills is essential.
