Job Description

The Financial Reporting Analyst supports SEC reporting, property-level financial statement preparation, and corporate consolidation activities while partnering closely with accounting, finance, and auditing teams. This role focuses on accurate and timely external filings, audit support, REIT-related tax testing, and month-end close processes, leveraging advanced Excel skills and modern reporting tools to manage large data sets and complex accounting projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the completion of periodic Securities and Exchange Commission filings, including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks, S-11s, S-3s, and other filings as needed.
  • Prepare standalone financial statements for specific properties when required.
  • Complete necessary documentation and support external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Assist with financial and REIT tax testing, including completion of property acquisition audits (3-14 audits).
  • Support property accounting month-end close by preparing journal entries and performing various monthly or quarterly reconciliation processes.
  • Complete corporate consolidation activities to ensure accurate reporting at the corporate level.
  • Perform variance analyses and prepare analytics to explain financial results and trends.
  • Maintain a new leases tracker for internal tracking and reporting purposes.
  • Document and monitor internal controls to support the auditing team and strengthen the control environment.
  • Coordinate more complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team and with other departments.
  • Complete additional projects and tasks as needed to support the broader finance and accounting function.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in financial reporting at a public company or in public accounting.
  • Hands-on experience with SEC reporting and financial reporting processes.
  • Strong Excel proficiency, including the ability to navigate large data sets and create and manipulate VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
  • Ability to work effectively with a remote leader and collaborate in a distributed team environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills for variance analysis and reconciliation work.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to support audit documentation and cross-functional coordination.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Workiva or Wdesk platforms for financial reporting.
  • Experience with MRI or similar accounting and property management systems.
  • Experience utilizing AI tools or automation in accounting and financial reporting processes.
  • Real estate industry experience, particularly with REIT structures and property-level accounting.
  • Familiarity with REIT tax testing and property acquisition audits.
  • Comfort working on complex, cross-functional accounting projects.
  • Professional approach to career progression, with the ability to explain contract or project-based roles in the context of long-term career goals.

Work Environment

This role is based fully onsite Monday through Friday, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., providing a structured schedule and close collaboration with accounting and finance colleagues. The environment is focused on timely and accurate financial reporting, SEC filings, and audit support, with regular interaction across departments. You will work extensively with Excel and modern reporting platforms such as Workiva or Wdesk, and may use MRI or similar systems for property-related accounting. The setting is professional and detail-oriented, with an emphasis on teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement in financial processes.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.47 - $40.86/hr.
