A REI Guide leads outdoor adventures, such as hiking, kayaking, and cycling, for REI Co-op members and customers. They ensure safety, provide educational insights about nature and outdoor skills, and enhance participants' overall experience. Guides must have strong outdoor expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to adapt to various conditions.
As an REI Guide, the majority of your day is spent leading groups through outdoor activities such as hiking, backpacking, kayaking, or cycling, so you can expect to be outside for most of your working hours. In addition to guiding, you may also spend time preparing trip logistics, performing pre-trip safety checks, and sometimes assisting with equipment maintenance or post-trip evaluations. Some administrative work, such as record-keeping and communicating with guests pre- and post-trip, is typically completed at the beginning or end of each shift. The role is highly interactive and hands-on, making it ideal for those who thrive in dynamic outdoor environments and enjoy working closely with people.
To thrive as a REI Guide, you need extensive outdoor leadership experience, in-depth knowledge of hiking, camping, or outdoor activities, and relevant certifications such as Wilderness First Aid (WFA) or Wilderness First Responder (WFR). Familiarity with GPS units, navigation tools, and reservation systems is typically required to ensure guest safety and seamless trip coordination. Exceptional communication, group management, and problem-solving skills help guides create positive, educational, and safe experiences for participants. These abilities are essential for delivering memorable outdoor adventures while maintaining the highest standards of safety and customer satisfaction.

The Speech Language Pathologist / SLP is responsible for the assessment of referred patients that require treatment for speech, hearing and or language deficits. The Speech Language Pathologist / SLP will teach patients how to make sounds, improve their voices, or increase their oral or written language skills to communicate more effectively. Also, the Speech Language Pathologist / SLP will teach individuals how to strengthen muscles or use compensatory strategies to swallow without choking or inhaling food or liquid.
