Van Driver Job Summary:
The Van Driver is to provide safe transport of patients, personal effects, requisitions, specimens, charts, and miscellaneous items, and assist with patient transport activities as required.
Van Driver Major Duties and Critical Tasks:
  • The Van Driver is responsible for transporting patients
  • Transports patients using wheelchairs
  • Participates/uses the automated systems in a timely and accurate manner to assist with patient care throughout
  • Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing, and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.)
  • Adheres to the standards identified in the facility's Organizational Competencies
  • Van Driver Required Education and Experience:
  • The driver must be a minimum of 21 years of age to drive
  • Acceptable history of safe driving as noted through a 3-year driving record check
