Position Summary:
The Financial Analyst is responsible for analyzing past and present financial data and preparing forecasts to support strategic decision-making. This role provides critical insight into cost control, budgeting, capital expenditures, and profitability in a fast-paced aluminum manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Analyze past and present financial data to forecast revenues, expenditures, and cash flow.
  • Run and document financial analysis projects, ensuring accuracy and traceability.
  • Prepare annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and variance reports to support management decision-making.
  • Provide financial models and profitability analysis for new business opportunities and product lines.

Manufacturing Cost Analysis
  • Monitor standard costs, overhead absorption, and material usage variances.
  • Perform detailed variance analysis for labor, scrap, downtime, and yield.
  • Evaluate operating records and production data to identify trends and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Partner with operations to improve cost tracking, inventory valuation, and margin analysis.

Capital Expenditures & Investment Evaluation
  • Evaluate capital expenditure proposals, calculating ROI, payback periods, and NPV.
  • Track depreciation schedules and ensure compliance with capitalization policies.
  • Assess investment opportunities and provide financial recommendations to leadership.
  • Compare post-implementation project performance against approved financial justifications.

Auditing, Taxes & Compliance
  • Support internal and external audits with schedules, reconciliations, and documentation.
  • Assist with tax filings, reporting, and compliance requirements as directed.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and company accounting policies.
  • Maintain financial records in accordance with audit and regulatory standards.

ERP & Reporting Systems
  • Extract, validate, and reconcile data from ERP systems for reporting and analysis.
  • Develop dashboards and financial reports to enhance visibility of KPIs.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in ERP data, escalating to IT or Finance leadership as required.
  • Ensure all reporting processes meet audit and internal control standards.

Month-End Close & Consolidation
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations for monthly and year-end close.
  • Consolidate financial results across departments and prepare management reports.
  • Assist with profit plan development and consolidation of financial statements.
  • Provide variance explanations and trend analyses for senior leadership.

Working Conditions:
  • Office-based role located within a manufacturing facility.
  • Regular collaboration with operations, supply chain, and engineering teams.
  • Occasional visits to the production floor to gather data and support project analysis.
  • May require limited travel to other facilities, vendors, or corporate headquarters.

Qualifications: Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required; MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred.
  • At least 3 years of financial analysis experience, with prior experience in an industrial environment and/or public accounting strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or equivalent).
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills required.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and financial statement analysis.
