Does QA do regression testing?

Yes, QA professionals often perform regression testing to ensure that recent code changes do not adversely affect existing functionality. This testing is typically automated using tools like Selenium or QTP and is a key part of the software testing process to maintain product quality.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Regression Testing position, and why are they important?

To thrive in Regression Testing, you need a solid understanding of software development processes, expertise in test case design, and strong analytical skills, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Proficiency with test automation tools like Selenium, JUnit, or QTP, and familiarity with version control and defect tracking systems, is commonly required, while certifications such as ISTQB can be beneficial. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and clear communication make a candidate stand out in this position. These skills are crucial for accurately identifying software issues, ensuring product stability, and effectively collaborating with development teams.

What is a Regression Testing job?

A Regression Testing job involves verifying that recent code changes or updates have not negatively impacted existing functionality. Professionals in this role execute test cases, analyze results, and report defects to ensure software stability. They work closely with developers and QA teams to automate and streamline testing processes. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of testing tools are essential for success in this role.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of someone working in Regression Testing?

Professionals in Regression Testing are primarily responsible for designing, executing, and maintaining test cases to ensure that recent code changes haven't negatively affected existing software functionality. On a daily basis, you might review requirements, update automated test scripts, report and track defects, and collaborate closely with developers and other QA team members. Your role involves re-running pre-existing test suites, analyzing outcomes, and ensuring that all business-critical features still work as intended after software updates. This work environment is often fast-paced and detail-oriented, making communication and teamwork essential for delivering high-quality software. Over time, you'll also have opportunities to expand your expertise by working on more complex projects or evolving toward roles in test automation, QA leadership, or software development.

Which testing is the highest salary?

Among testing roles, automation testing and performance testing often offer higher salaries than manual testing due to specialized skills and tools involved. Senior regression testers with certifications and experience in tools like Selenium or JMeter tend to earn the highest salaries in testing positions.

Will AI replace testers?

AI can automate many aspects of regression testing, such as executing test cases and identifying defects, which increases efficiency. However, human testers are still essential for designing test strategies, interpreting complex results, and handling exploratory testing. Therefore, AI is a tool that complements testers rather than fully replacing them.

What jobs use regression analysis?

Regression analysis is used in various jobs such as data analysts, statisticians, financial analysts, and data scientists to model relationships between variables and make predictions. These roles often require skills in statistical software like R or Python and an understanding of statistical concepts. Regression techniques help inform decision-making across industries including finance, healthcare, marketing, and engineering.

  • Validate data extraction, transformation, deduplication, staging, loading, and archival processes.
  • Perform source-to-target validation between original Jira repositories, staging outputs, target Jira configuration, and Snowflake archive tables.
  • Test migrated Jira entities including projects, issues, epics, stories, tasks, subtasks, users, comments, attachments, links, workflows, statuses, priorities, labels, custom fields, and history.

  • Familiarity with data quality testing, count reconciliation, duplicate detection, and referential integrity checks.
  • Experience using defect tracking tools, preferably Jira.

  • Familiarity with tools such as Postman, Python, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or data comparison utilities.
  • Experience with Agile testing, sprint-based QA, and UAT coordination.
  • Experience with migration dry runs, cutover testing, and post-production validation.
