Job description

A Hospital in Tustin is in the need of Patient Registration Specialist to its Emergency Department team. The Patient Registration Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring patients are registered efficiently and accurately during critical moments. The Patient Registration Specialist will be tasked with admitting patients, collecting demographics and insurance information. This role requires strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment.


Responsibilities:

โ€ข Welcome patients and their families to the Emergency Department with professionalism and empathy.

โ€ข Collect and validate patient demographic and insurance information to ensure accuracy.

โ€ข Obtain and securely scan necessary documents, including identification and insurance cards.

โ€ข Explain financial responsibilities such as co-payments and assist patients with payment collection.

โ€ข Accurately input patient data into the electronic health record system.

โ€ข Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth patient flow and minimize delays.

โ€ข Address patient and visitor inquiries with a calm and supportive demeanor.

โ€ข Adhere to hospital policies and maintain compliance with organizational standards.

โ€ข Perform additional administrative tasks as required to support the department.


Schedule: 40 hours/week; rotating weekends

Shift: 2:00pm โ€“ 10:30pm


โ€ข Prior experience in patient registration, patient access, or a similar healthcare administrative role.
โ€ข Working knowledge of insurance verification, demographic data collection, and front-end registration processes.
โ€ข Ability to communicate professionally with patients, families, and care teams in a fast-paced environment.
