Position Summary
The Registrar serves as the senior administrative leader responsible for the strategic management, integrity, and continuous improvement of all academic records, registration processes, and student information systems at Morehouse School of Medicine. This position requires an experienced professional who possesses deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to operate with urgency, clarity, and precision.
The Registrar is responsible for ensuring compliant, accurate, and service-oriented operations, while fostering a workplace culture built on professionalism, collaboration, accountability, and respect. The role includes responsibility for policy development, system optimization, data stewardship, enrollment operations, reporting, and high-quality service to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and external partners.
The Registrar must demonstrate a proven ability to lead teams through complex work, develop talent, and effectively manage change, while maintaining a person-centered approach and operational excellence across all functions.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university

Experience
  • Five to eight years of progressively responsible experience in registrar operations, academic services, or student records management.
  • Expertise in higher education principles, policies, regulatory requirements, and registrar best practices.
  • Experience managing student information systems, data governance, workflow design, and technology-driven process improvement.
  • Proficiency in enterprise software systems, reporting tools, and data management practices.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams, coaching staff, and building collaborative work environments.
  • Proven ability to assume responsibility quickly, prioritize effectively, and make sound decisions in fast-paced contexts.
  • Strong communication skills across diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
Education:
  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university

Experience

  • Banner experience, particularly Banner 9 or higher, specifically systems administration, configuration, and workflow optimization.

Operational Excellence and Records Management
• Serve as custodian of academic records for all current and former students.
• Ensure integrity, confidentiality, and security of academic records.
• Oversee academic records processing, registration, degree audits, and graduation.
• Direct Banner system use, maintenance, and optimization.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts for data quality and processes.
Registration, Enrollment, and Certification Services
• Plan and manage registration, preregistration, enrollment certification, and graduation.
• Maintain academic calendars, course offerings, and catalog updates.
• Certify enrollment, academic standing, loan deferments, licensure eligibility, and related documentation.
Compliance, Reporting, and Accreditation Support
• Ensure compliance with FERPA and applicable regulations.
• Provide accurate institutional and external reporting, including NSCH, NSDLS, IPEDS, SSCR, AAMC, SACSCOC, and LCME.
• Maintain audit-ready processes and documentation.
Leadership and Team Development
• Provide forward-thinking leadership and direction for the Registrar's Office.
• Lead and develop staff through coaching, clear expectations, and professional growth.
• Establish a culture of excellence, service, integrity, and continuous improvement.
• Strengthen operational consistency through clear workflows, policies, and standards
• Assess team structure, workload, and process gaps and implement solutions.
Collaboration and Institutional Engagement
