Overview
Cath Lab RN
Location: Knapp Medical Center - Weslaco, TX
Full-Time | Days | 8 - Hour Shifts
A Cath Lab RN is essential in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of cardiac catheterization procedures, contributing significantly to the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases specifically with the cardiac catheterization lab.
Responsibilities Section
** If you possess an ARRT certification and have experience as a Catheterization Laboratory Technologist (Cath Lab Tech) you are encouraged to apply.
  • Assess patients, obtain medical histories, perform physical exams, and prepare patients for cardiac catheterization procedures (Pre-Procedure Preparation)
  • Assist cardiologists during procedures such as angioplasties, stent placements, electrophysiological studies, and other cardiac interventions (Intra-Procedure Assistance)
  • Monitoring patient post-procedure for complications, provide post-procedure instructions, and ensuring patient stability before discharge or transfer to another unit
  • Operate and troubleshoot complex medical equipment used in the catheterization lab, such as hemodynamic monitors and other diagnostic tools
  • Quickly respond to any emergencies or complications that arise during procedures, such as arrhythmias, myocardial infarctions, or bleeding
  • Accurately document all aspects of patient care, including pre-procedure assessments, intra-procedure details, and post-procedure outcomes

Responsibilities
Provides direct patient care to adult and geriatric patient populations. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment. Communicates with physician continuously and as needed about patient condition. Assists with the maintenance of equipment and inventory. Assesses procedure room or equipment functioning and readiness. Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of the Cardiovascular Laboratory team are met. Monitors physiologic and hemodynamic data, as related to diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures performed in the cardiovascular lab. Monitors and records patients condition continuously while in the Cardiovascular lab. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN); preferred.
2. Active state Registered Nursing (RN) License; required.
3. Current BCLS (AHA), ACLS certificate upon hire and maintain current; required.
4. One (1) year clinical experience in a Cardiovascular Lab doing cardiac work or in a Critical Care area; required.
