The Assistant Nursing Manager ensures the appropriate and safe delivery of nursing care to patients undergoing surgical services. Accountable for the smooth, effective and efficient functioning of the unit during the assigned shift with minimal direction from the Department Head. Supervises, instructs, and assists department's technical staff ensure the objectives and policies of the patient. Coordinates physician's and department's needs to ensure specialty equipment and supplies are available for procedures. Assists and provides input to department head regarding employment interviews, staff performance issues/needs, and employee schedules. When delivering patient care 1) provides high quality, safe, cost effective, total nursing care to all patients utilizing the nursing process 2) assumes the responsibility for overall coordination and integration of patient care based on need of the patient and family members 3) directs care according to established standards of safety, risk management, infection control, with the goal being to discharge the patient with an optimum level of care provided 4) utilized evidence-based practice in accordance with professional standards and adheres to the Florida State Nurse Practice Act 5) reviewed orders/test results and documents care delivered accurately and timely in the electronic health record.

Education

  • Minimum: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Preferred: BSN preferred, Critical care experience required (Intensive Care and/or Emergency Department)

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year nursing experience in Radiology
  • Minimum 1 year management experience preferred.

Required Certification / Licensure / Registration:

  • Current Florida RN license
  • American Heart Association BLS/ ACLS / PALS
  • Demonstrates yearly competencies specific to unit
