Registered Radiologist Assistant

Full-Time Opportunity at AdventHealth Lake Nona

General Summary:

The RRA, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:

  • Performs a full range of imaging procedures under the appropriate levels of supervision and operates all imaging equipment in assigned department.
  • Utilizes the knowledge and skills for age-specific factors necessary to perform safe and effective procedures on patients of all ages (neonate/infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatrics).
  • Willingly learns/adapts to new technologies and protocols and helps develop the knowledge and competency of coworkers and students.
  • Performs patient assessment pre and post procedure.
  • Utilizes effective questioning strategies, listening and speaking skills, and applies nonverbal communication techniques as appropriate during patient communication.
  • Utilizes proper positioning criteria and technical exposure factors, performs all required imaging projections for given procedure.
  • Utilizes two patient identifiers to confirm patient/exam accuracy before administering exam.
  • Evaluates images for completeness, diagnostic quality and utility, and recommends additional images as required.
  • Repeats any view that fails to include all required anatomical structures or lacks proper contrast and spatial resolution.
  • Completes assigned exams in a timely manner.
  • Keeps workflow coordinator informed of availability and status of all pending exams.
  • Utilizes PACS equipment.
  • Confirms proper exam/patient assignment before releasing images to PACS for interpretation.
  • Operates and maintains Imaging equipment in a safe manner.
  • Adheres to all infection control, radiation and MR safety standards.
  • Properly wears Dosimetry badge and seeks to minimize radiation exposure.
  • Assists with Performance Improvement initiatives while understanding the department performance trends and established standards.
  • Contributes toward process improvement by serving on PI teams as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of imaging procedures/positions, anatomy and pathology, and pharmacology [Required]
  • Ability to determine appropriate technical factors [Required]
  • Knowledge of radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment [Required]
  • Must maintain Advent Health medical staff Allied Health privileges in good standing. [Required]
  • Communicates effectively in English [Required]
  • Knowledge of PACS and associated equipment [Preferred]
  • Good organizational skills [Preferred]
  • Knowledge of CT, MR, ULTRASOUND equipment [Preferred]
