Respiratory Therapist / Pulmonary Function Lab Technologist

Location: Falmouth, MA
Pay Rate: $2,000 - $2,316/week (DOE)
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift
Schedule: 3x12 Hours | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Hours: 36 Hours Per Week

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist / Pulmonary Function Lab Technologist to support the daily operations of the Pulmonary Function Laboratory and Respiratory Care Department. This role is responsible for performing pulmonary diagnostic testing, assisting with bronchoscopy procedures, maintaining specialized equipment, and providing respiratory care services as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs)

  • Conduct Methacholine Challenge Tests and Six-Minute Walk Tests

  • Collect arterial blood gases (ABGs) and sputum specimens

  • Accurately document and communicate test results to providers

  • Complete daily reconciliation of pulmonary function reports

  • Assist physicians with bronchoscopy procedures

  • Prepare, maintain, and troubleshoot bronchoscopy equipment

  • Calibrate and maintain pulmonary diagnostic equipment

  • Assist with inventory management and supply ordering

  • Provide respiratory therapy services based on departmental needs

  • Deliver respiratory care utilizing Therapist-Driven Protocols

  • Support respiratory patient assessments and treatment planning

  • Conduct appointment reminder calls and assist with patient scheduling

  • Complete charge entry, billing support, and documentation activities

  • Participate in quality improvement and performance initiatives

  • Train and mentor staff on pulmonary function testing procedures

  • Maintain compliance with departmental and regulatory standards

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required

  • Graduate of an Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program Preferred

  • Current Massachusetts Respiratory Therapy License Required

  • Current BLS Certification Required

  • Strong Knowledge of Pulmonary Diagnostics and Respiratory Physiology

  • Experience with Pulmonary Function Testing Equipment

  • Experience Collecting ABGs and Respiratory Specimens

  • Excellent Communication, Documentation, and Organizational Skills

  • Ability to Work Independently in a Fast-Paced Environment

Required Certifications

  • RPFT (Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist) OR

  • CPFT (Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist)

  • RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) OR

  • CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist)

  • Massachusetts Respiratory Therapy License

  • BLS Certification

Preferred

  • Minimum 1 Year of Pulmonary Function Testing Experience

  • Bronchoscopy Support Experience

  • Respiratory Diagnostic Testing Experience

  • Respiratory Care Services Experience
