Job description

This is a leadership-first role overseeing IT service and support for North American operations within the fast-paced Waste, Recycling sector. Reporting to the ITSS Director, the Regional IT Manager acts as the bridge between technology and frontline workers, ensuring diverse lines of business (collection, sorting, specialized treatment) remain connected and efficient. We are looking for a culture-builder who can unite a geographically dispersed team of IT technicians into a cohesive, high-performing unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a remote team of IT Technicians across multiple states. Responsibilities include fostering a "one team" culture, conducting regular 1-on-1s, performance coaching (setting KPIs), and leading the hiring process for new regional talent.

  • Strategic Operations: Manage the IT lifecycle for numerous facilities, including landfills, recycling centers, and corporate offices (Multi-Site Oversight). Partner with regional VPs and GMs to align IT initiatives with business goals and implement corporate IT standards across all sites.

  • Budget management and Projects: Under the direct supervision and strategic guidance of the ITSS Director, regional IT Manager will oversee OpEx and CapEx to ensure lean spending and budget alignment and also lead regional deployments of hardware, networking, and facility-specific technology.

Candidate Profile

  • People Skills: Exceptional ability to translate "tech-speak" for non-technical stakeholders and build trust with field staff.

  • Emotional Intelligence (EQ): Skilled in managing conflict, navigating change, and motivating remote employees.

  • Strategic Thinking: Capability to manage local site needs while maintaining a multinational organizational perspective.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 7+ years in IT, with at least 3+ years in a formal management or leadership role overseeing remote teams.

  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in heavy industry, logistics, or waste management is highly preferred.

  • Travel: Willingness to travel up to 40-50% to visit sites and engage with technicians face-to-face.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in IT, Business Management or equivalent field experience.

Why Join Us?

Join a multinational leader dedicated to sustainability, where technology is the engine of the business. The role offers a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and the autonomy to build a world-class regional IT organization. Important Note: This requires a "boots on the ground" leadership style; it is not a desk job at headquarters.
