Job description

The Regional Insurance Manager, North America is responsible for initiating, developing and/or maintaining Insurance products, identifying and pursuing new sales opportunities in line with the desired risk level and existing guidelines of the organization. All the while with a view to ensuring compliance and effective operational design to deliver improving performance for insurance from both a financial and customer satisfaction perspective. Day to day

Driving Sales and Overseeing the Control Cycle

  • Analyze portfolio and results, benchmark local markets and create a plan to improve commercial performance (product, eligibility, penetration and margin).
  • Build comprehensive data analytics on losses, and business exposure, and deploy recommendations over time to manage insurance cost and mitigate continuity risk
  • Prepare and interpret monthly performance dashboards in collaboration with local Finance department and Global Insurance operations. 
  • Contribute to annual budget definition and target settings

New Business Development

  • Develop local new vendor/partner/dealer business opportunities, design and roll out new insurance programs and risk solutions, liaising with relevant functional disciplines and monitoring/managing program performance.
  • Identify and support the design and implementation of insurance opportunities in cooperation with sales, operations, legal and risk. Ensure our products and channels are in line with local regulations and DLL standards, in order to realize income in a compliant, effective and efficient way.
  • Analyse the leasing insurance market, individuate suitable providers and program structures to develop the best solution for the customer in alignment with Manager and the Global Insurance Group Strategy:
    • Identify customer needs and design products that meet those needs
    • Create comprehensive business case proposals in order to secure Global Insurance Group approval. Proposals to include program design details, legal & compliance sign off, financial modelling of income, envisaged operational processes and impacts, assessment of residual risk exposure for DLL including mitigating risk controls, evaluation of counterparty risks, a commercial review of the program and SME recommendations. 
    • Negotiate contract agreements with TPA, brokers, insurance companies and any other third party providers conferring with Legal dept for sign off. 
    • Work with our channels to market and Vendors to develop sales/marketing plans.
    • Project Manage implementation activities and assist business units and countries in delivering new insurance programs including drafting customer facing documentation, IT and Operational implementation, sales channel training for internal members and Vendor partners' sales staff. 
    • Lead RFPs to periodically benchmark DLL product and conditions

Insurance Advice, Regulatory environment, Market Intelligence

  • Advise and raise awareness within regional management in order to promote the Global DLL Insurance vision and strategy.
  • Monitor and analyse market trends, competition and customer needs in order to guide and develop local strategy. 
  • Investigate and benchmark insurance market (competitors, customer insurance policies, local carriers, digital offer) in close cooperation with external partners and our internal channels to market. 
  • Advise local business members, MT and other DLL departments on best practices for insurance activities and act as a SME for DLL concerning insurance matters, in order to share/build knowledge and expertise. 
  • Advise on any insurance related matters relating to effective use of insurance for regional risk management.  Insurances.
  • Cooperate with global risk/legal function in monitoring existing insurance programs to ensure that they remain within guidelines and applicable regulations.
  • Ongoing monitoring of any regulatory change that may impact DLL products and as necessary prepare plan to adapt.

Customer Satisfaction

  • Build and maintain key commercial relationships across the region with key stakeholders including brokers, insurers and relevant industry associations.
  • Ensure and coordinate excellent customer service oversight and governance (enquiries, claims, complaints) by interacting with local internal functions (commercial, operational, legal, risk, compliance external (i.e.  3rd party service providers, brokers and insurers).
  • Create communications and events/activities tailored to the marketing and educational needs of the region

Insurance Programs and Relationship Management

  • Functions as relationship manager for third-party insurance intermediaries / providers.
  • Identify income and cost improvement opportunities in collaboration with regional Business Units and wider Global Insurance team.
  • Negotiate with brokers, insurers, GBUs and countries, to restructure or change existing programs to improve performance and/or maintain program continuity.
  • Review, control and enhance Insurance programs and advise possibilities for improvement.
  • Develop product summaries and marketing flyers with Marketing department.
  • Provide SME input in completing Regional Risk Committees and Insurance Risk Committee reviews.

Ensuring excellence in product and service. 

  • Provide entrepreneurial SME guidance in delivering best in class solutions across existing and potential product offerings such as Physical damage, Gap, Extended Warranty, General Insurance, Cyber, AD&D, Third Party Liability et al either through a licensed activity or service structures, including retention.
  • Ensure products are supported with operational excellence across the region, including compliance with relevant local laws and regulations, effective risk management, and efficient and effective processes
  • Review policy wordings together with all lessees facing documentation to ensure optimal effectiveness, clarity and consistency. 
  • Provide SME oversight and escalation in managing exceptional claims occurrences or related disputes.  
  • Assistance in the design of comprehensive coverage to protect DLL and customers assets/interests.
  • Day to Day support of local insurance stakeholders and GBUs in order to develop penetration of insurance products and ensure efficient operational handling in close cooperation with Operations. Provide regular training to sales force, dealers and vendors, internal DLL stakeholders as an insurance expert.
  • Review closely and improve when needed the operational handling and post sale services delivered by countries including claim management and complaints handling
  • Review commercial and operational execution of existing programs and proactively identify improvement opportunities in order to improve service quality and speed, minimize operational & compliance risks, optimize customer satisfaction and maintain/develop DLL income.

Corporate Insurance and Contracting Support

  • Provide ad-hoc SME support to DLL MT in these areas: 
    • Corporate approach to own property and casualty insurance..
      • Ad-hoc transactional SME support for insurance aspects relating to vendor agreements and related certificate of insurance questions
    • Corporate contracting and supplier selection.

Essentials: 

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Degree in Business Administration/Economics or other related qualification. 

  • Insurance Producer License (may be possible to obtain post-hire for right candidate)

  • Ideally also holding recognized Professional Insurance Qualification(s) (may be possible to obtain post-hire for right candidate)

  • Excellent command of Excel

  • Project management skills

Experience

  • 10 years of commercial insurance experience within broking and/or underwriting (Physical Damage, Property, Motor and PPI/Life). 

  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset with proven commercial success with 5+ years within a Leasing, broking or underwriting environment.

  • Knowledge of insurance regulations 

  • Working knowledge of leasing financial products: finance lease, operational lease and loan with collateral.

  • Track record of consistent delivery against stated objectives in the market

  • Expertise in Agriculture, Green assets and e-Mobility desired

  • Insurance Operational handling experience (quotation, submission, complex claim handling)

  • Placement, procurement and successful Underwriting experience on electronic and green assets, agriculture, material handling and construction equipment

  • General knowledge and understanding of Reinsurance. 

  • Regular exposure and experience of presenting to or influencing senior external and internal stakeholder groups (incl. C-suite / Board levels)

Applicable Pay Range 

$153,649.00 - $230,473.00

DLL is considering candidates in numerous locations. The pay estimate displayed represents the typical pay range for candidates hired for this position in the desired primary work location. Pay may be adjusted outside the projected range based on geographical differentiation as well as for any other lawful reason. Additional factors that may be used to determine your actual pay include your specific skills, years of relevant experience you possess, and other work-related qualifications. Many candidates may start in the bottom half of the applicable pay range, especially those with less experience or qualification. 

This position is subject to the terms of DLL's compensation plans and policies. Further, the position includes all other benefits provided to DLL employees, including healthcare benefits, 401k matching, vacation, sick leave, parental leave, possible discretionary bonuses, and all other benefits that are all governed by and subject to ERISA plan documents and eligibility.
