Position Information

Position Title Administrative Assistant I

FLSA Non-Exempt

Primary Responsibilities

The Administrative Assistant role formalizes and strengthens one of the most influential components of the enrollment funnel: the campus visit. By providing consistent, personalized, and intentional visit experiences, particularly for admitted students, this position directly supports St. Lawrence’s ability to convert admitted students into enrolled students, making it a high-impact investment in the University’s enrollment success. Reporting to the Executive Director of Admissions, the Administrative Assistant I is a key member of the enrollment management team responsible for delivering a personalized, high-touch campus visit experience for prospective and admitted students and their guests. This role will be central to St. Lawrence University’s recruitment and yield strategy, particularly during peak visit and yield seasons.

By coordinating daily visits, specialized itineraries, working directly with all three of our student employment programs (Admissions Summer Interns (6), Admissions Senior Fellows (6) and Admissions Ambassadors (60+)) and developing meaningful engagement with faculty and campus partners, the Visit Concierge Specialist will help all students envision themselves at St. Lawrence therefore ultimately supporting the successful enrollment of a strong and engaged incoming class.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Daily Visitors & Guest Services
  • Serve as the primary coordinator for daily campus visitors, ensuring visits are welcoming, well-organized, and reflective of St. Lawrence’s values and academic caliber

  • Manage visit logistics including schedules, check-in, communication, and day-of support

  • Provide professional, responsive, and detail-oriented guest services for prospective students and families

  • Collaborate with Admissions counselors, student workers, and operations staff to ensure a seamless visit experience

  • Partnering closely with admissions counselors that work with our three student employment programs: Admissions Summer Interns (6), Admissions Senior Fellows (6), and Admissions Ambassadors (60+)

  1. Specialized Visit Itineraries (High-Yield Experiences)
  • Design and execute customized, high-impact visit itineraries for prospective and admitted students, including:

  • Meetings with faculty members

  • Class or lab visits

  • Lunch or dinner on campus

  • Meetings with Financial Aid, Career Excellence, Student Life, Athletics, and other campus partners

  • Coach meetings, athletic events, performances, and campus events

  • Utilizing SLU Central for any additional events or opportunities

  • Work creatively with the Executive Director of Admissions and the Vice President of Enrollment Management to develop visit experiences that respond to individual student interests and enrollment priorities

  • Ensure all specialized visits are thoughtfully coordinated, communicated, and followed through on

  1. Faculty & Campus Partner Collaboration
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with faculty across academic departments

  • Coordinate faculty engagement in campus visits, mock classes, and special yield programming

  • Serve as a liaison between Admissions and campus partners to ensure visit experiences accurately reflect the academic and co-curricular strengths of St. Lawrence

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with campus partners to align expectations and logistics

  • Partner with the Laurentian Engagement Office to leverage the Laurentians Learn Series

  • Partner with Parent’s Committee to offer current parent Zoom sessions to admitted students and their families

  1. Yield & Enrollment Impact
  • Play a critical role during yield season, supporting admitted student programming and individualized visits that influence enrollment decisions

  • Track visit engagement and collaborate with the Admissions team to assess the impact of visits on application, admission, and enrollment outcomes

  • Continuously evaluate and enhance visit offerings to maximize yield and student satisfaction

  • Manage and elevate the lobby visit experience ensuring what we are offering and how our space looks is competitive and reflects the St. Lawrence University experience and cost

This is a full-time, 11 month position (with planned time off in May/June annually) and in the CSEA bargaining unit.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma (or equivalent) required; Three years of clerical and customer service related experience required. Must have a strong desire to continually improve and document procedures to enhance efficiency/accuracy of the operation. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (particularly Access, Word and Excel) required and ability to learn SLATE and related systems will be required.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s degree preferred.

Knowledge of the St. Lawrence University community, the Canton area and the North Country is strongly preferred.

Salary $18.07 - $24.98 CSEA Level 15
