Bedford, OH • On-site

$50K - $55K/yr

Full-time

Job description

Job Type
Full-time
Description
The Field Services Regional Trainer plays a critical role in developing, training, and supporting DCOMM's field technicians across Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin. This position is responsible for delivering hands-on technical training, safety education, and compliance support that directly impacts quality, safety, and long-term technician success.
This role bridges classroom instruction and real-world field execution. The Regional Trainer leads new hire onboarding classes, builds and delivers training programs for coax, fiber, bury drop, and safety, and partners closely with Market Managers, Operations Leaders, and in-market trainers to ensure consistent standards across regions.
When not leading formal new hire classes, the Field Services Regional Trainer is embedded in the field - conducting quality inspections (QI), safety checks, uptraining newer technicians, and reinforcing best practices. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, credible field leader, and coach who thrives in fast-paced, hands-on environments and is passionate about developing people the right way.
Requirements
YOUR ROLE IN ACTION
New Hire Orientation & Training
  • Welcome new hires into DCOMM through regional orientation classes and serve as a first point of cultural and operational connection.
  • Lead new hire training programs (target: one week in-class) for field technicians within assigned regions.
  • Ensure new hires understand DCOMM expectations around safety, quality, professionalism, and customer experience.

Training Program Development
Create, develop, and continuously improve training curricula for:
  • Coax installation and service
  • Fiber installation and service
  • Bury drop processes
  • Safety and compliance
  • Maintain training materials that reflect current field standards, customer requirements, and operational best practices.

Field Training & Coordination
  • Coordinate field training assignments for new hires following classroom instruction.
  • Partner with in-market trainers and supervisors to ensure technicians receive proper hands-on experience.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with trainees and trainers to monitor progress, address gaps, and reinforce expectations.

Safety Leadership & Compliance
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs aligned with OSHA standards, customer requirements, and DCOMM policies.
  • Coordinate safety meeting topics and materials for Market Managers to share during weekly technician meetings.
  • Support safety initiatives through coaching, documentation, and corrective action recommendations.

Field Audits, Quality & Uptraining
Travel regularly to assigned regions to:
  • Conduct quality inspections (QI) on newer technicians
  • Perform safety checks and field observations
  • Provide targeted uptraining and coaching
  • Partner with Market Managers to address trends, deficiencies, and improvement opportunities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
 Work closely with:
  • Director of Operations for planning, priorities, and travel approval
  • Hiring Managers and Market Managers for onboarding alignment
  • Operations leadership to ensure training supports KPI and SLA performance
  • Serve as a trusted field resource and subject matter expert across regions.

All Other Duties as Assigned
Support evolving training, safety, and operational needs as DCOMM continues to grow.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required Experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in broadband field services (coax, fiber, bury drop).
  • Proven experience training, coaching, or mentoring field technicians.
  • Strong working knowledge of safety standards, field compliance, and quality metrics.

Preferred Background
  • Experience delivering formal training programs or onboarding classes.
  • Telecommunications, broadband, or cable industry experience.
  • Prior regional or multi-market support experience.

Skills & Attributes
  • Confident classroom and field presenter with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Credible field leader with strong technical depth.
  • Organized and self-directed with the ability to manage travel and schedules.
  • Strong communication skills - able to coach, correct, and motivate.
  • Safety-first mindset with attention to detail and accountability.
  • Comfortable working alongside Operations and enforcing standards without being "corporate."

WORK ENVIRONMENT & TRAVEL
Field-Focused Role: Combination of classroom instruction, field training, and regional travel.
Travel Requirements: Regular travel across Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin. All travel must be approved by the Director of Operations.
Schedule Flexibility: May include early mornings or extended days to align with training schedules and field activity.
Physical Requirements: Ability to work in field environments, walk job sites, and observe active installations.
WHY DCOMM
  • 20+ years of experience supporting broadband infrastructure nationwide
  • Strong reputation for safety, quality, and operational discipline
  • Opportunity to directly shape technician performance and retention
  • Trusted partner to Operations - not just a training role
  • Long-term stability with room to grow as DCOMM expands
